Right you are Phil (though I think it is spelled Loane)

That was quick

Edit - Sorry stu - missed your post.
I wondered if someone might think the profile was Ironstone
As for the Labyrinth - we went to Pine Valley on my first visit. Rained all the way in - climbed the Acropolis when it was plastered with snow - and froze at the top in a white out when it then magically lifted for views all around. Next day we hiked out hailing most of the way - and that was mid February!

Okay - I haven't had a go for a while.

You'll pick the mountains (probably), but from which lake?

[quote="eggs"]Maybe one day I will get there - it is on my "list" - especially in autumn.
It is just fabulous on a lovely autumn day, especially when the Fagus is coloured. The photo was taken at that time, but in that one the Fagus doesn't feature much. My photo album from that trip April 2007 is on the web

Thanks Peter

We were close 2 years ago when I did the OT for the first time - beautiful autumn fagus around Cradle and Ossa.
But due to time and my wife's insistence that we do the full walk - we proceeded down lake St Clair rather than the side track to Pine Valley.

Getting rustier stu  - these mountains have been featuring a lot lately - being Solomons Throne, King David's Peak & the Temple.
That places him in the land of a thousand lakes....

Yes eggs - it's a bit drier than around Olympus, 'though very very full of lakes indeed.

But which one???

Have a great trip Stu - take your yabbie tube, it can get pretty dry up there (although tonight/tomorrow's rain might help).

I'm off to the Thetis/Achilles/Pelion area for 6 days, leaving Saturday as well. Let's both hope for good weather!

But back to the "Where Am I?" ... here's a cryptic clue. The lake name might have come from someone who was uncertain more than twice! (That's worth a dad-joke groan once you get it ... but then I'm not only a dad, I'm also a granddad!)

cheers

Hope all your walks go well.
My note re our 2 weeks down there was that things were very, very dry - particularly Schnells and the Southern Ranges.
Maybe you have had some rain since then.
Stu - Sorry the Spires planning did not work out. Franklands sounds good - I would love to do them via kayak + day trips.

Not sure about your clue.

Maybe Lake Olive?

It's stayed very dry since your visit Brian - although rain is forecast soon, and the clouds in Hobart are looking dark.

The 3-headed dog was an allusion to the legends surrounding the Styx.

Anyway - I think you might be on Mt Styx looking through the gap between mt Field and Mt Mueller.

Ah I need to scrub on my mythology.
Alas it isn't from Mt Styx, the shot is taken from halfway up another peak.

Snowy North it is eggs. A nice walk with a very depressing start and end - leaves a bad feeling having been to such a good vantage point only to walk through a devastated section of beautiful forest on the way out.

I know of at least 3 regulars of the game that are out doing what they love at the moment. Half their luck the weather has been magnificent down here for the last few days. 2 are on The Frankland's and 1(maybe 2) in The Western Arthurs.....
Your turn.

Good one Nick, I haven't spent any REAL time in the reserve and I'm sure this is Tasman Penn but once again haven't spent much time down there but should do given it's so close to home
Maybe from Cape Raoul, looking South?

Well you might need to be not quite so sure about Tasman Pen.

I was up on the peaky bit (Pindars) at the back recently - and I remember seeing the lighthouse from there. It was on the SW corner of Bruny Is.

I suspect Nick is giving us a reason to visit Bruny.
Looks like it is from the headlands south of Cloudy Bay - maybe East Cloudy Head?

That's it brian.
Yeah it's Pindars up in the haze there. It was an awesome day and I was almost regretting not being up in the southern ranges, but it was a great little walk along East Cloudy head, and we did actually drive to the lighthouse later that day.

stepbystep - This is from Bruny but yes you should visit tas penn as well :D 4 days on Bruny Is just isn't enough if you enjoy diving as well..
And some more reason to visit Bruny, this is looking the other way..
