Thanks, I've never been there so took a bit of research. Looks like a nice place to visit.

I only have some NZ shots with me right now. What am I looking at in the distance? Bonus point for any other feature or where I'm standing.

Yes, you know it wayno. The only time it put in an appearance between the clouds, just as we were leaving after hiking around there all day.
Taken from outside the visitor centre, from memory the foreground massif is Mt Wakefield.

Not the Tasman R or the Mt Cook area. I'm about 100 km south of there. I don't think this river is well known, but the much visited feature behind me is.

Not Makarora. I'm about 60 km ESE from there. I discovered that this, sometimes very braided, river has a conservation park named for it.

Yes eggs, I was playing in the clay . Correct, all yours...

I dug out my photos and have one almost exactly the same but a wider view.
It was a great spot to explore.

It was a unique landscape and fun. Even my wife seemed to enjoy wandering among the clay pillars.

It is a mini Quiraing for those familiar with the Isle of Skye.
