That it was not Mars was a sufficient clue. :D
Eggs is correct. Kibo Hut and beyond Mawenzi.
Kilimanjaro peak behind and 1000+m up.
(the natural scene was considerably less green than the pic)

A bit lucky with that - though the huts reminded me of Africa.

Shouldn't make it too hard - so Yes to Lake Como.
We were about to descend back down to Argegno from Pigra on an old track.

Thanks eggs, I doubt I would have got closer without a lot of research.
Though I do remember passing through L Como on a bus trip in the early 90s.

USA, may or may not be easy:

Kilauea Point Lighthouse

That's the one. Kilauea Lighthouse (built 1913) in the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge on Kauaʻi.
The broader locality protects seabird nesting habitat, monitors the local nēnē population and aims to protect other land and sea based wildlife.

Okay. I'm not a big world traveler but a fair chunk of my trips were pre-digital photo era. So here's a Fujichrome slide from 2004 that I projected onto our hallway door and then photographed with my phone. Quality is obviously reduced! And no, we failed. All that said, it should be pretty easy to get this one.

I suspect this will be Mt Kenya. I'm not a climber but my research suggests that there are a number of rock climbing pitches to attain the summit.
Which would make it more challenging than most bushwalking/trekking peaks.

Yes, Mt Kenya of course. The climbing isn't actually that difficult but elevation and weather are both factors. We should have budgeted more time but, being from California, we hadn't imagined that we'd need to wait so long. It was still a nice place to visit.

And end the bidding there as well, correct eggs. I didn't think it would be too hard.

Looooong way south from there. Clue has more to do with music than being drunk. I could also make some immature comment about the valley below...

I have no clue but let's try and narrow the search. It can't be around Mt Cook, is it in the Milford region?

Right np now, but at the wrong end. The music reference was specifically to do with jazz. Photo is taken from a reasonably well trodden track (not a great walk tho)
