Right country but a much lower peak than Cho Oyu (and the location is lower still. :-))

Hmmmm, much lower peak eh?? That discounts the 5 biggest mountains in the world, so I'm guessing I'm up Ship Creek. :evil:

Actually where i'm standing is much better known than the peak. Oh and rule out any mountain over 6500 m.

Tilicho lake is much closer but many more people pass through this spot than would visit Tilicho lake.

I am at Thorong La Pass (highest point of the Annapurna circuit) and looking at Thorong Peak (in the first pic).

Indeed. Google was the winner. A couple of the standard pictures from the web were almost identical. I'll post as soon as resize a shot to fit.

The focal destination of this hike is a small tarn, not the spectacular glacier ahead.

To help narrow it down, I'm in Canada. The loop trail I'm on has the same name as the tarn it visits.
The main trail to get here takes the name of the glacier ahead.

The glacier and adjacent peak (under cloud) may have been named by someone in high authority, perhaps the almighty?
