If you look closely you can see a building on the far shore. It has royal associations.

It's in Scotland and the house was built for Queen Victoria in 1868.

Going by the generous clue Tyreless (without which I was completely befuddled) I'll say Loch Muich. Strange article I found discussing a bothy at the back of the house. If correct anyone can go, I'm in Tassie at present and no photos with me.

That's right, johnw. Loch Muick, part of the Queen's Balmoral Estate. I'm off for a week on the Main Range.

Ooh, I'll take up the opportunity if I may.
This one's in Europe, one of my all time favourite places.
I've parapented over it, walked around part of it and been on a boat ride on it, but, where is it?

You might want to remove the file name, otherwise clues won't be needed.

No idea but guessing Aurlandsfjord in Norway just to rule in - or out - a country. :-)

The only place I have been to that looks like that is Trollfjorden in Norway.

Apparently, the Trolls threw rocks down the valley to stop the invaders.

Since I stuffed it up by leaving the photo thingy on, I'll pass on where it is and submit another.
It's Koenigsee near Berchtesgaden in Germany and the mountain coming down to the lake is the highest totally in Germany.
It's truly a wonderful place, highly recommended.

Look familiar? Perhaps yes, perhaps no.
It's located on an island is the first clue.

Thanks Wobbly. As there has been no reply from iandsmith for nearly a week I would be happy for anyone to take the next turn.

Very quick eggs. Correct. Well done.
The photo is of a tui which is endemic to NZ.

Yes - on the walk up Ruapehu - at this spot we were heading fairly directly up to Glacier Knob before traversing, and the girls had gone for the cliff face and encountered very loose ground.
I had stayed on the firm rock further out, but had to go back to get them.

Rotopohueroa/Lake Constance? I'm in NZ at present but not near there, although possibly not too far away. If correct anyone can go next, I have a long drive tomorrow. If I'm wrong good luck :).

Thanks WFBW, I do have some NZ photos on my new phone but no clue how to upload them at this point. I'll be offline at least until we get to Christchurch sometime tomorrow evening. Anyone who has a photo please go next....
