So I'm pretty certain that you are on Moorea then? Perhaps the road to Belvedere Lookout? Hard to see any bridges on Google Earth.

Not Moorea. This is on Tahiti, not too far away. I'll be happy with the name of the valley.

The Papeno'o Valley. I think I found the bridge on the map.

That's it. Yes, the bridge is on the map but no location name. We were on a 4WD trip through there and stopped to watch locals feeding freshwater eels.
There was also a multisport/adventure race in progress with runners, MTBs and even a category for people running with their dogs.

No. Not in France. And no bike races on this road! Go further east.

Clue time? I'm somewhere in the Balkans, and there is a border crossing at the bottom of the hill.

This was an epic to research :). If I'm right this will be the Kotor Serpentine road in Montenegro near Lovcen NP.

You are very close, but this is not in Montenegro, but the border crossing at the bottom of the hill goes into Montenegro.

The Rrapshe Serpentine on the SH 20 road between Rrapshe and Grabom in The Cem Valley, Kelmend in Northern Albania, just below the border with Montenegro.

Back in NZ. Don't know if this will be hard or easy. What human induced feature am I descending into?

The just visible mountains in the distance are on the other side of a very large and popular lake nearby.

Historically this area was subject to industrious human activity on and off, of a feverish type fairly common to its era worldwide, and resulting in the landscape here.

Not copper, a more expensive metal. Water is the driving force shaping this landscape.
Not Blenheim/Nelson but ironically you've mentioned the name of the nearest town.

So your really saying it's a sluice mine for gold just out of Queenstown. So I'd guess its Arrowtown and your looking across the Lake at the Remarkables.

It's a sluiced canyon from gold mining but not near Arrowtown or looking at the Remarkables. Head in the other direction.

Yes eggs, I've posted other shots from this loop before. For a compact walk it has quite a bit of interest.

I will pay that - although the island is actually Kuata - just next door
Google has really messed up their photos.
It appears under Wayasewa that they are all of Kuata ??

That always interested me about Tasmania - not only the Myrtle/Nothofagus associations with NZ and Chile that are relatively well understood but also the Pacific sounding native names like Wayatinah and many more - Tungatinah, Liawenee etc, like nothing on mainland Oz and pointing to a possible Pacific origin of the local people rather than the suggested Dravidian ( south Indian) origin of our mainland folk.

Very generous eggs. It was a WAG based on your previous Fiji posts, although I didn't think it would be too far off the mark.

And he sees the vision splendid of the sunlit plains extended,
And at night the wondrous glory of the everlasting stars.
