That's it, johnw. Also known as "the lake at Bethells Beach". A great spot for a freshwater swim.

Thanks ribuck, my experience of the north island is minuscule, hopefully broadened eventually.

Where/what am I hiking up in North America recently:

Thanks for playing wobbly, I was wondering if the crickets would stop chirping . Yes that will do it.
I'm climbing the North Face hiking trail which finishes at the upper tram (cable car) terminal.
My knees thanked me afterwards as you can get a free ride back down if you hike up the 2.2 miles/2,000 feet elevation gain (will the US ever go metric?).
Mt Alyeska/Alyeska Peak high point is well above and behind me. I don't think it's accessible on foot but I did hike up to the glacier below it on a different day.

I think this has become a two man show wobbly.
Trying to narrow it down, looks like you are in the Lakes District?

It was still a wild guess.

My international photos are very limited at the moment. So in Europe again - what peak is this clown on? (It is the highest in this particular country)

You've narrowed it down well but that's a very large area. Looking for the name of this significant glacier.
Clues - it is still advancing and can't be approached by maritime traffic for part of each year.

That's it ribuck. We were there literally a day or two after the seasonal exclusion period to protect the harbour seal colony breeding in Johns Hopkins Inlet.
Saw an abundance of seals and other wildlife. The advancing tidewater glacier was stunning, calving thunderously several times while we looked on.
