There are always 1 tree hills in various places.
I am after the name of the lake, but you won't get any higher than the range at the back.
This was taken from the road side.

It seems you have been a bit sneaky and posted a photo with the famous 2 (really 3) pronged peak obscured in cloud. I'll attempt to relieve you - is this the place?

Why were you heading for Lennox Falls?
Can you get up that slope to the Pass?
Or is this the normal way of approaching the Kea Basin Track

We were mixing it up and sticking to the west side of the Rees, as well as being an unsuccessful attempt to avoid getting our feet wet - but it did give us a nice and close up view of the falls during some fairly good snow melt.

I'd say you can probably get up the pass that way, but would be hard work (heavy vegetation and steep in places). Would say that the normal way of approaching the Kea Basin Track would be on the east side of the Rees.

Your turn eggs

My mind had gone to this one initially.

After a bit of research, I believe it is Leaping Burn

Next one is still New Zealand - name of the falls at the base.

Wishbone Falls

Beauty, thanks mate.

Staying in the same country, what well-visited set of mountains am I looking at here? And where from?

*Edit - happy to give some clues for this one if need be

Hmm I was hoping the silhouette might be recognisable. Perhaps a clue.

These mountains sit above an interestingly-shaped lake

Can't place the view... is the lake shaped like a crucible per chance?

Skyline looks like the Remarkables.
Although it might be from an adventurous location [such as Ben Lomond] I suspect it might just be near the top of the chairlift/gondola at Queenstown.

Yep, looking out at The Remarkables from Ben Lomond. Bit of an early start but well worth it for a couple of hours alone at the top with a lovely sunrise for company.

Over to you eggs.

OK - try this one from Europe.
Its a phone panorama and the task is to name the peak just left of middle.

I think that's The Matterhorn on the right but I don't know the others. I'll take a guess you're looking from the south and suggest the peak you want named is Dent d'Herens.

I'm not in Italy. So I am not south of the Matterhorn.
A better resolution photo would show some interesting buildings on the near ridge line.
The peak I am after is very notable in the Alps.

A rose by any other name is a thorn? Or a horn? WAG but I'll try Täschhorn.

Stick with the roses John.... Not a horn or thorn.

So, abandoning pun analysis and after further research and photo matching - Dufourspitze (Monte Rosa)

Yes - Monte Rosa - 2nd highest peak in the Alps.
Panorama as seen from Rothorn

Thanks eggs, it's a nice panorama. Even though it's at the end I think the Matterhorn still manages to dominate.

Back to NZ for an easy one (I think):

I'm surprised this hasn't been guessed yet. It's a short side trip off one of the main tracks at a popular location. Some impressive heights behind those clouds.

Well, sort of, although that's a much more serious undertaking than where I'm headed. Mt Cook is in the frame, obscured by cloud in the distance. This is the alpine/climbers memorial to those who have died in the NP. It's just off the Hooker Valley track, which at its end point is the closest any walking track comes to Aoraki/Mount Cook. Your answer is good enough for me bogholesbuckethats, over to you.

Ah yes I had Hooker Valley on my mind but couldn't quite remember the name.

Back to Switzerland - name either the pointy rock in the foreground or the snow capped mountain on the right.

might be time for a clue.

I can see a small town called Fully from where this photo was taken.
