I can see a small town called Fully from where this photo was taken.

Are we looking at Pierre Avoi (pointy rock) on the left and La Crevasse (snow capped mountain) on the right?

Pierre Avoi is correct but the mountain is the Petit Combin. Over to you johnw.

Thanks bogholesbuckethats. This seems to have become a two horse race.

Just to start the conversation... somewhere on the Hawaiian Islands. And to keep the conversation going, somewhere on Big Island?

The feature in the centre background belching steam and volcanic gasses has a name, as does the larger caldera that surrounds it.

This is in a NP at probably the most visited active volcanic site on the Big Island. There are many hiking trails including the one that I just ascended from the caldera below, although the area of it that you can access these days is fairly limited. The crater contains a "lake" of molten lava.

Kilauea? I tried to match it up to my photos a couple of days ago but it looked different. If that's the place, where were you standing when you took the picture?

Correct Orion. Overlooking the Kilauea caldera towards the Halema‘uma‘u crater and lava lake. This was taken from an interesting area called Steaming Bluff, which is not far from the crater rim road.

Pretty sure that's taken in the Oval Office.

Good one! But I suspect it would be much, much smaller if that were the case.

This infamous formation is about 15m tall and is in a National Park in California.

I could but I'd be banned for life from this forum.

No!

I’m just messing with your mind. I have no idea.

I was just hoping to win by default.

That's too bad, because it is in fact called "The Unmentionable".

Close enough though. Go ahead with the next one.

Sorry Ribuck but not Waswater, Wasrwater is far more dramatic like this, barely a tree to seen except at the extreme western end.

Close but no cigar

Yes John.
Climbed onto these 10 days ago.
Well worth the effort and a short drive from the resort we were in.
The beach section had massive wave action as well.

Thanks eggs, wasn't there some bad weather recently? My wife has expressed some interest in revisiting the resort we stayed at about 30 mins from Sigatoka. Will check this out if we go back.

An easy one from NZ to keep it going. What feature am I climbing?

Cyclones a few weeks before had minimal effect on the places we went to.
The best spot we stayed was a resort on a small island.

Are you on the way to Mt John Observatory?
