At the DuCane Gap cairned high-point, ~1250m, where the path goes down from the Traveller Range to the OLT?

Pretty sure you can't see Mt Oakleigh from Du Cane Gap (although at 1250m I assume you mean from up on the Traveller Range itself, near the Gatepost?)... In any case I was going to suggest from the Du Cane Range high point?

Yes wfbw - this is from quite close to the Ducane Range High Point - at the drop off point onto Big Gun Pass - Looking over the saddle between Ossa and Doris

as for the DuCane gap pad onto the Traveller - might get to see what that looks like in April..

New River Lagoon crossing point. If you want to swim it. Ironbounds in the distance?

Borrowed photo again. Bit blurry but chosen 'cause I think it's an easy one.
Lovely place to pitch, up and off the beaten track.

Six hours without a bite. I had thought it's taken on the Gould Plateau, but am not 100% sure. Clues might not be in order

So as not to slow things down, someone else please post a freshy.

Vagrom, I reckon it's worth not advertising this sort of spot on the open forum, or it may not stay off the beaten track...

Yep, Gould Plateau - looking in the opposite direction to the previous photo.

Not on the 'beaten' track but there is a, mostly well-defined, track.

I haven't been there in years Tortoise and maybe it is beginning to suffer a little wear and tear, so close to the ferry drop-off.

I actually got a bit bushed on my first '06 visit. I think you mean this place's location makes it a bit more at risk so your advice is welcome.

I just wish more Aussies would see Tassie as we do but our camping shops are busting to make a quid. There's just not enough bums on bushwalking seats.

This one I have no idea at all but the nearby trigg point may assist some of the local masters in identification.
Again, copied ~5yrs ago. The brooding colour contrasts of wild Tassie. Apol's if it's one of yours.

Gotta admit I'm not sure about using other people's pictures vagrom.

Besides the game is "where am i" not where was someone else....

Re: GAME: Where am I?

Postby vagrom » Tue 19 Mar, 2019 4:31 pm

Thanks ILUV, my method was simply to try using the Game for a bit of sleuthing, with two photos ( so far ... ) to help me find out where these places are . There's about three or four more, copied years ago when this phone was young.

My concern was that someone might recognise an old photo and suspect plagiarism. Without a home computer but many photos of Tassie going back years, some in emails from fellow club walkers but with no way of connecting to the Game, this might be an allowable alternative. I've just noticed that one of the photos in this little collection is by biggbird.

Tortoise, i've just typed a heartfelt response to your PM re: other issues but the computer went off-line midway, such was the force of my logic and ate it. Not offended at all and will try another when I get home.

Thanks eggs. One of those beautiful shots. Someone else please post.
