That's correct Eggs. Looking south from Mt Lot. PB under the clouds in the distance.

A little bit different..
- Sunrise from the top of the Ducane Range - Falling Mountain and the Gatepost in view - as well as a bit of Rogoona and the Walls

Is this from Mt Thetis?
Mon 17 Dec, 2018 8:41 am
Not from Thetis - but you are in the right area. This is sunrise.
Mon 17 Dec, 2018 9:31 am
High point of the DuCane Range?
Mon 17 Dec, 2018 9:45 am
That is correct. You may have noticed I have posted a few from this spot.
A magical place for sunrise with views in every direction.

I recognised Falling...such a good spot. Also a sunrise...

Not a heap to go on but I’ll start the bidding off with Adamsons?
Mon 17 Dec, 2018 12:22 pm
Wouldn't normally jump in quickly, but this looks tough.
Adjusting the photo a little reveals a sharpish peak well behind the near foreground.
If it was the East Tower - it might place this on Pavement Bluff?
Mon 17 Dec, 2018 1:32 pm
You've got the right idea eggs but not Pavement Bluff.
Mon 17 Dec, 2018 2:18 pm
A closer look suggests the profile matches my view from the gap north of Ossians Throne, but not the view from Hamilton Crags.
It has to be a large zoom - so it is hard to figure the foreground - but it could even be from Little Hell / Giblin Fells

Close enough eggs. I was wandering back towards the village from Legges Tor summit. Can't be sure exactly where. Your go!
Mon 17 Dec, 2018 2:45 pm
I wondered about Legges Tor - but thought it would look more like my view from Hamiltons.
But not so!
Been 9 years, so I might put this up again - an old scan of a photo from 1983.
- NW view from Mt Zeehan

Unless my researching skills have diminished I think this will be from Mt Zeehan eggs.

Yes - folk had trouble last time - but I guess I could have kept the clues for later ..
There is some wild country on the West Coast - this shot is towards Ocean Beach and the Trial Harbour area.

Sure is, something I'd like to see more of when I'm able to revisit the region.
Next one:
- Mt Donaldson from the Donaldson River, Pieman River State Reserve via Corinna

Looks Tarkineish. Donaldson from near the mouth of the Donaldson River?

It is. Really need to explore more of it.

I'll have to give it to you NNW. That is Donaldson, which we climbed the next day. We went on a trip in a tinny with the ferryman from Corinna, along the Pieman and explored some way up the Savage and Donaldson rivers. I had thought this was from the Savage R but, looking at angles and slopes etc, I suspect you are correct. Memory is sometimes unreliable, I need a GPS marker in my camera. Over to you.

I was not sure about which river, but it doesn't match what I remember of the Savage below the logjam. Donaldson River is awesome to explore.

Is that somewhere along the Gingerbread Track?
Tue 18 Dec, 2018 10:32 am
Nope.
This is a different take on a reasonably well-known place.
Tue 18 Dec, 2018 11:37 am
Vaguely reminds me of climbing up to the Face track from Lake Wilks
Tue 18 Dec, 2018 12:12 pm
Closer, but still not right.
Tue 18 Dec, 2018 2:08 pm
Is it toad rock
Tue 18 Dec, 2018 4:02 pm
I don't think so. Depends where Toad Rock is. If you mean the one near Pelion East, no.
To the best of my knowledge, this specific feature does not have a name, although it and its immediate surrounds are very distinctive and seen (from a distance) by a good number of people. It all looks very different up close. The bit at the top does have a name. It even has a track.
ps: It's not in Cradle/StClair NP.
Wed 19 Dec, 2018 6:24 am
I expected this to be a bit tricky, but not this tricky. You can see this spot from an Abel. You can see the track to the summit from another peak and maybe even from another Abel. It is in a National Park, but not one we usually associate with sandstone (or the even more surprising mineral near this rock).
Wed 19 Dec, 2018 6:47 am
Let's try Ben Lomond NP
Wed 19 Dec, 2018 6:50 am
Cradle was closer.
