I was thinking somewhere on Pedder. Is that the Franklands in the background?
Tue 22 Aug, 2017 7:49 pm
Ahhhh, now we're getting somewhere . .
Wed 23 Aug, 2017 10:57 am
Perhaps the bay to the NW of Mt Cawthorn?
Wed 23 Aug, 2017 11:09 am
West of Cawthorn is correct, but not north. The name I'm looking for is not exactly a bay either . . .

I'm just going to make an assumption that considering you kayaked it could be an island? How about that small cove on the west side of Crumbledown?
Wed 23 Aug, 2017 3:08 pm
Crumbledown it is. Lovely place to spend a night. Interesting coastline to explore, too.
All yours, Geevesy.

Thanks NNW,
Where is this alfresco dinner being prepared?

Could this be another one on Mt Massif?

It is indeed Graham

That's right, just after leaving Gordonvale.

Nice one. I enjoyed the walk into Rhona.
Which summit was I approaching here on Sunday?

Weld?

I thought I could see a trig on top but it was a mark on my screen.
The shape in the background looks like Hartz Peak to me.
Fri 25 Aug, 2017 6:01 am
Yes, Hartz it is. Beautifully cold up there. Back to you Graham.

There wasn't a lot to go on but I guess the basic outline was there.
Where was I here?

Is that Geryon and the Acropolis in the back?
Maybe near the Gatepost?

That's as close as I can expect. We were camped at one of the lakes just below The Gatepost.

Thank you. Good area, that.
OK, time for something a little different. The cover photo for this book was taken in Tassie. But where?

Intriguing
Will be a wild guess - but ignoring the reference to "Interior" mentioned in the blurb, I will start with the coastal plains of the West Coast looking back at Mt Agnew from the north?
Fri 25 Aug, 2017 5:14 pm
No. And that isn't Agnew.
To make it a bit easier, I must admit that the shot was not taken anywhere she travels in the book. Not even close to it.

Is the book worthy of it's stupendously good cover photo? What's that dog doing in a national park btw?
Sat 26 Aug, 2017 1:57 pm
Still at extremely wild guess stage - but the peak does sort of resemble Rugby - soooo,
might it be along the Davy Track or even closer to the coast near Payne Bay.
Sat 26 Aug, 2017 6:11 pm
Yes that's Rugby. Not on the Port Davey Track, however. But you're getting the right idea.
stepbystep wrote:Is the book worthy of it's stupendously good cover photo? What's that dog doing in a national park btw?
Photoshop can do all sorts of things, even shove a girl and a dog into an originally creature-free image. As well as make the image look a lot better than it really is.
It's not bad. Not what I expected. The blurb is all melodramatic, but the book is surprisingly realistic. And the author has either done a fair bit of scrub-bashing, or talked to people who have. I'll lend it to you next time we get together.
Sun 27 Aug, 2017 10:25 am
Oh come on, if we're looking at Rugby there aren't that many tracks from which you see it, nor many places where you see it from that angle.
Sun 27 Aug, 2017 11:44 am
Is it looking back from the junction of the Cox Bight an SW Cape tracks?
Mon 28 Aug, 2017 6:56 am
Thank you Graham, that's exactly where it is. All yours now.
Mon 28 Aug, 2017 5:12 pm
I've been there a few time but have no photos looking back to Rugby from there.
Where did we camp with my grandson last year?
