Would that be Cosy Corner from Old Man Rocks in the Bay of Fires?

It's the only more-or-less south-facing beach I can think of on the East Coast. Which would make the pointy rock Sloop Rock some distance behind?

I'm new to this game and have spent some time catching up on all the great pictures and sleuthing work.

Well, I didn't expect to have to front up that quickly! :D

This slide is from 2005 (so still in the pre-digital era for me). I'm sticking to the coastal theme - out of necessity: I don't have that many great mountaintop shots!

Hmmm... I think this one's out of our comfort zone! The columns of rock are interesting. There are a few of these formations along the north west coast but the vegetation looks a bit sparse for it to be up here. I think it's also a bit sparse and dry to be anyhere on the west coast and it's the wrong sort of rock to be in the north-east or Freycinet. I'm guessing somewhere on the Tasman Peninsula or perhaps Bruny. Am I getting warm?
P.S. I've just read back through your posts Dirk. I add my hearty thanks for your Keith Lancaster Diaries work. I'm sure you've noticed they get plenty of mention in these forums.

Hi Tastrekker

Warmer indeed.

Those diaries! I've been busy with them on and off for a decade. They have given me a good understanding of the nomenclature of Tassie's remote places - far and away beyond what I have seen and where I have been myself. In fact two of my sons (both members of the forum  ) chide me for being a bit of an armchair bushwalker!

Old Keith had literally been everywhere, and recorded it all meticulously. It's one of the nice things about this forum (and this game!) that I can get to see what all these places look like.

You're standing on a dirt ledge, up fairly high but not as high as the top of the hill across the water.
Looks like a fairly immediate drop in front of you so probably the top of a cliff.
The land mass across the water is pretty big as you cannot pick the horizon anywhere beyond it.
The angles suggest a very wide angle shot, so things might be closer to you than they first appeared...
And that rock in the water looks like exactly the same type of rock that you see the seals basking on around Cape Raoul.
It's more cliffy on the left and more slopey on the right, so I suspect you are looking north or north-west. The rougher seas on the left allude to that as well.
I thought you might have climbed out on Cathedral Rock since the tide is out, but the rocks don't match the photo.
This is tricky...
The vegetation is sparse so I am thinking it isn't on the eastern side of the peninsula.
Yet the seas are SO calm...
Head up the east side a bit and when the vegetation thins out enough, the cliffs and rocks appear too white indicating possibly sandstone up that way.
Another look at Cape Raoul doesn't show up anything.
OK Lets take Tastrekkers clues of Bruny and have a look - it would make sense with the calm seas...

Right then, I finished a coastal circuit of Bruny on Google maps satellite view and cannot find it.
The grassy tussocks in your photo look familiar like I saw them in a documentary recently, is it by any chance somewhere on the northern regions of Tasman Island?
I doubt this is right because things don't look big enough. But I can't find it anywhere else.

The more I look the more I suspect that was a silly suggestion - the grass tussock in your immediate foreground looks like it gets stepped on a fair bit, hence all the exposed dirt on the lookout, so it must be somewhere that is visited often, possibly a popular track.
I still don't know.

I think he is on Bruny Is - looking South across at another small island.
I think it is a fairly popular tourist spot.

This guess is probably way off, but would that be one of the clearings on the lees paddocks track?

The clue is in the centre of the photo. How many places in the bush have a plow?

I am going off line and won't be back until tomorrow night. Someone else can have a go.

It's Crooked Lake from Reeds Peak. This is the view if you look to the right!

OK folks, eggs has gone and no-one wants to play with me :(
I'm out of the loop for a while, so someone else should post a pic.
The shot was from Mt Jukes, I scrambled up there on my way to the Bird River Track.
Lot's of bullet holes in the signs on the road if I remember correctly, gotta love those gun-totin' Queenstowners

I think we need to be patient, especially on weekends. History has shown that it can take over a full day for some photos to be guessed, and on weekends, replies are very few and far between.

Sounds like anyone can post the next picture, but be patient waiting for guesses to come through. :-)

PS. Also, don't forget the note amongst the game rules:
Proxy: If a Photographer posts a picture and then finds that he/she can't monitor the game, you can PM the answer to another player who will act as "Proxy Photographer".

So, if you have to go out for a while, feel free to appoint a proxy (and don't forget to tell them the answer). I'm happy to act as proxy most of the time, and will make sure I check in regularly while I'm a proxy. (I subscribe to this topic while I've got either a picture or a guess pending).

Well, with nobody else volunteering a fresh start, I'll have a go...

There's not a lot of features in this photo, but it's a fairly distinctive spot. If you can name the 'track' that the photo was taken from, that'll be enough. I know that several other forum members have been here, as there was a lot of discussion about this route some time ago (which is how I decided to use this route myself). Enough of a hint for you?

NB: Eggs and at least one of the other game regulars are going to be offline for a while. So now is a great opportunity for for others to have a go if you've been finding it hard to get your guesses in on time. However, note that it may take longer than usual to get guesses, confirmations and new photos.
