I thought I recognised it, I was out there fighting fires a few years ago.
Still with water crossings. Bit more water here.

Doesn't look too bad. Especially with the (uncharacteristic) blue skies and sunshine.
Still with water crossings. This is what you can see on the low route...
...and if you go over the top, it's like this.
Where was I headed?

You may end up with an invoice for a surgical procedure, from a very good poker player . . .
Sun 18 Jun, 2017 5:37 pm
A quick google search of best poker players gave me Greg Mueller, so maybe somewhere near Mt Mueller, with the surgical procedure referring to The Needles nearby?
Sun 18 Jun, 2017 5:45 pm
An inventive interpretation, but not at all what I was getting at. There's nothing like this on the way up Mueller. What I was climbing isn't an Abel, it isn't even called a mountain.

No idea about the poker player. Otherwise I'd guess at Little Billopp, as it fits the first 2 clues, and there's probably lots of old hydro stuff up there.
Edit: Wikipedia tells me Jonathan Little is a professional poker player, so my confidence has increased.

Billopp is correct. The poker reference was simply trying to point you to 'Bluff'.
Never heard of a 'Little' Billopp, but you're close enough, Torty.

Fanks! I don't think we came across those bits and pieces on our walk there, but my forgetory is substantial.

I say! One of those delightful open spots on the ridge walking up to Lake Sydney/Mt Bobs/The Boomerang?
Gorgeous shot.

Indeedy do, Zano. My photos don't do it justice - the dramatic mountains rising from the oceans of cloud were just..umm...well, words fail me too. What a privilege we have to visit these magnificent places!!

We are very lucky to live in such a beaut place, hey?
Okay, where was I?

On what beach did my friend and I come across this stingray?

Wineglass?
From the look of it, 'stinkray' might be more appropriate.
Mon 19 Jun, 2017 11:12 am
Not Wineglass, but it is on the Freycinet Peninsula. Yeah by memory it was producing some very pungent smells!
Mon 19 Jun, 2017 11:17 am
Hazzards?
Mon 19 Jun, 2017 12:12 pm
I think that is Schouten at back - so Bryan's Beach?
Mon 19 Jun, 2017 12:35 pm
eggs has it, we found it on Bryans Beach.
Mon 19 Jun, 2017 2:31 pm

For some reason that reminds me of Bruny Isl, somewhere near Green Point
?
Mon 19 Jun, 2017 2:47 pm
Not on Bruny
Mon 19 Jun, 2017 3:26 pm
Wouldn't be the southern/eastern end of hazards would it?
Mon 19 Jun, 2017 4:02 pm
Yes - I was not straying far from the last. Next to the Hazards Campsite.
Loved the late afternoon light.

Thanks. Not sure if next pic breaks rules as I wasn't exactly walking but what was I looking at?

Perhaps you were driving instead of walking? Looks vaguely like somewhere along the Western Explorer. Looking at Norfolk Range?
Mon 19 Jun, 2017 5:00 pm
That's the one. Over to you. Spectacular place visited for the first time last week.
Mon 19 Jun, 2017 9:57 pm
Spectacular indeed. Made my first trip up there in March and wondered why it had taken me so long. Next one.
