Re: GAME: Where am I?

It is Mt Emmett - but I will need a better answer than near Rodway.
I'm quite close to a named location.

Bonus points for naming some of the peaks on the horizon [click on the photo for more detail]

Artillery Knob?

Can't believe I've forgotten if the vertical cliffy one is Clumner or a turrana Bluff. I've worked it out so many times!! But can't work it out out on my phone. :-(
Then Mersey Crag? ...or WOJ - Temple? King Davids Peak? Oh to have a brain that doesn't leak!

Well done Tortoise.
I was heading for Artillery Knob.

Leaving out the plateau peaks on the LHS we have just left of centre: Clumner Bluff and then the Temple and King Davids Peak.
The next grouping to the right consists of Pillinger and Rogoona, and in the gap next to Emmett we have Cathedral, et al and then Pelion East

Thanks, Eggs. So Clumner is the vertical cliffy one. It's visible from so many places!

Go on, somebody have a stab at it. It's not too hard. Pumpkin time is very early for me tonight, and I'm busy tomorrow.

I think it was actually from Stuart Saddle, but effectively the same thing. Over to you, SBS. :)

At sunset. Spot on, Waif. :)
I thought the shape of the mountain was distinctive enough, being very well known. But as I also was unwittingly deceptive about the size of the cairn, here's a view in the other direction:

Somewhere on Ben Lomond I was thinking Tortoise... were we looking at Barrow in the first photo?

Re: GAME: Where am I?

Yep, Geevesy, it was Barrow, and yes, I was somewhere on Ben Lomond - with a very good view of Barrow - so...

Actually, this could be a good time to mention my 2nd most favourite website, in case there are people playing the game who don't know about it. It's a brilliant resource, the depths of which I am never likely to plumb. But it's great for printing out relevant bits for a walk, and it's great for this game. And great just to peruse, dreaming of more walks to come.

http://maps.thelist.tas.gov.au/listmap/app/list/map
You can search for anywhere in Tassie. My preferred view is usually scanned maps. Hover over the 'Basemaps' tab in the top righthand corner to get the menu.

Back to the photo in question - LISTmap really gives you 4 options with such an excellent view of Mt Barrow from Ben Lomond Plateau. 2 of those (edit: which are more out of the way) I have never heard people talking about, so I'm thinking it'd be unlikely that one of them would have such a fine cairn as the one in the 2nd photo. So that should give you a 50% chance of guessing right.
Edit: though of course what I've not heard might not help you.

Well it's Gerry, as seen from the Labyrinth. Maybe looking across from one of those little reedy tarns near Lake Elysia?
