Correct. The stones form a square about 10m each side. They are about 100m from the track and about 200m from the Crossing River scrub band and on the Arthur's side of the river.
I am wondering if anyone else has seen them or knows their history.

There was a walker evacuated in that area after a snake bite this season. May be a marker for the rescue chopper? Or track workers... firefighters? Maybe just bored bushwalkers.

I walked past there not that many days after the rescue but don't recall seeing those rocks. Were they visible from the track?
Anyway, since yours was so nice and easy here's another one that shouldn't be too hard:

Looking at the Rufus summit cairn from the main track?
Fri 11 May, 2018 9:13 am
Yes, although just a bit off the track. I started heading toward the flowers to get a better shot (my P&S camera was very limited in zoom) but I decided it might be a bad idea to wander too far into the scrub in runners and shorts with nobody around for a long ways, and no PLB even. So I settled for a fuzzy photo.
Edit: I was thinking of snakes.

It's pretty open up there, not likely to get lost unless the weather goes feral.

They're older than the rescue as I first noticed them 2 years ago, and probably quite a bit older judging by the depression in the dead vegetation under one of the rocks I moved. Maybe you're right....no particular reason just boredom! No they're not visible from the track. Still a bit of a mystery.

Somewhere on the south east part of the central plateau? Millers Bluff?
Fri 11 May, 2018 1:01 pm
I still haven't done Millers.
To prod this along a bit: That shadow in the foreground is the highest point of a named lump. I think. There were three separate boulders and I'm still not 100% certain which is highest.

You're thinking along the right lines name-wise, but still miles away.

Dean Bluff?

That's the one, looking eastish along the cliffline. Lovely spot with a different perspective on the Walls and the Mersey River valley.

Looks like it was an entertaining walk visiting the clergy! I hope to get up there one day.
Here's one from a lovely day walk a couple of years ago

Wobbly and Eggs are about the same distance away. About 8 km as the forest raven flies.
