You're in the wider frame NNW, but not Wild Dog Tier (neither Projection or Quamby - although they wouldn't be too far north). Hopefully I'm looking at what I think I am from this spot, but it isn't Bastion etc as I'm facing away from them.

Extremely wild guess - from Kimberleys lookout over the Gog Range to Ritters Crag?

Not there eggs. Without getting out a ruler it's possibly a bit further away than NNW's guess, albeit in a different direction. However I am at a lookout.

Maybe not Ritters Crag but looking over Ritters Plain, the edge of Fisher Bluff to the distant Clumner Bluff from Devils Gullet LO??

Looking at Surprise Tarn and through the divide in the King Willies from Loddon Bluff?
Fri 15 Jun, 2018 8:58 am
Yup. Pretty much there, probably from closer to Church Peak. Over to you AZ.

Ah true true. Such a lovely bit of walking up there!
What walk was I on here?

Fluted Cape on Bruny?

Over to you NNW.

I think everyone stops to photograph that rock stack.
You've put me in a coastal frame of mind.

Looking at the background, somewhere on the Tarkine Coast, maybe near Edge of the World?
Fri 15 Jun, 2018 2:39 pm
takayna is correct, but there''s nothing like that near Edge of the World.

So far the only other thing I've come up with is Church Rock, but it doesn't look like that, and this looks more remote.
Must be hard, 110 views and no one else has guessed.
Sat 16 Jun, 2018 4:46 pm
Not Church Rock. This is one small part of a more extensive area.
You'll be sorry for giving me lip.
Sat 16 Jun, 2018 6:29 pm
OK, I'll bite. Is this looking out at sandy cape?

I've scoured the map for anything vaguely labial/oral/buccal etc, but have come up empty.
No sign of a bight either. Help!
PS It hasn't been easy finding exactly what Takayna includes.

Kings Run?

So far you're all too far north. Maybe the clue was a little too cryptic, although I grint a lot when I thought of it.

So how far south does Takayna go? I bet you can do David Astle cryptics.

No. Defining the area is one of the challenges we face in protecting it appropriately. The heart of it is the current Arthur-Pieman Protected Area, which is essentially bounded by the Indian Ocean to the west, the Arthur and Pieman Rivers north and south, and the Murchison Highway to the east. Most of us include areas beyond that. Personally, I'd like the takayna/Tarkine NP to include the entire coast from at least as far north as preminghana (maybe even pilri) and down to Trial Harbour - allowing excisions for the existing settlements, of course - and include all the forests and mountains to the Cradle-StClair boundary. It's ridiculous that Murchison and the Tyndalls aren't appropriately protected.
But that is outside the scope of the game. This is from a spot within the APCA.
A wider shot of the same rock:
ps: Place names in
palawa kani aren't captialised. It's 'takayna'.

Rupert Point?

Yes, that''s it, part of the glory that is Rupert Point.

Thanks nnw for the clue. Such a beautiful part of Tasmania.
Moving away from the coast - where am I?

Not sure at all, but loos Tyndall-ish. Maybe Lake Plimsoll?
Sun 17 Jun, 2018 4:36 pm
Not Plimsoll, but you are right - it is west coast vegetation
Sun 17 Jun, 2018 4:42 pm
OK, so Granite, not Conglom, maybe Cumberland Lake?
Sun 17 Jun, 2018 4:44 pm
Burbury? Al;though it's a big impoundment and I'm having trouble placing exactly where you would be.
Sun 17 Jun, 2018 4:55 pm
Correct, stepbystep.
It is the picturesque Lake Cumberland, an early impoundment created by the tin miners of the South Heemskirk Tin Field.
Your turn.
