Promontory Lake, Mt Scorpio etc from Mt Canopus?
Sat 05 Jan, 2019 11:34 am
That's all correct Graham. We were on Mt Canopus and that is Promontory Lake beside Carina Peak and beyond the lake is Mt Scorpio.
To the left of the photo is the Sculptor and beyond that is Mount Aldebaran I think.

The Gables?
Sat 05 Jan, 2019 3:13 pm
Brian's not working well right now, but could you be on Bobs?
Sat 05 Jan, 2019 5:05 pm
It was cloudy so I am not sure if this is possible but my second guess is Lucifer Ridge.
Sat 05 Jan, 2019 7:42 pm
The Gables and Lucifer Ridge are roughly in the right direction but this is from further away than either of them.

Are you on Schnells Ridge?

Wrong range now. You were closer, and in the right range with your second guess.
Sat 05 Jan, 2019 8:36 pm
Canopus again? Or maybe Aldebaran?
Sat 05 Jan, 2019 8:39 pm
For a fourth guess I reckon you must be on Scorpio.
Sat 05 Jan, 2019 8:47 pm
Nearly covered them all. One more step away. A named mountain, not an Abel.
Sat 05 Jan, 2019 8:56 pm
Fifth guess. It must be the Phoenix.

Or Carina. Or Centaurus Ridge. Or the Sculptor . . .

This is a lot of bull!!!! A step further away than Aldebaran or Scorpio.

Haha nice clue.... must be my star-sign mountain Taurus.

Of course it is. Don't you have a small feeling of guilt jumping in after all the hard work was done by Beardless and NNW? I have in the past. But don't worry, you'll get over it in a minute.
I took that photo on Sunday last week. We had six days of almost perfect weather - just a heavy shower on the morning we left Lake Oberon and some drizzly conditions walking across the plains on New Years Day, which was welcome after the heat.

Nope, no guilt... quick game's a good game. And NNW wont give me too much of a hard time about it
I'll make the next one easy however....
Sounds like you had perfect conditions for a fantastic trip Graham.

They're never easy for me - Weld? All I'm sure of is that you're looking at the WArthurs.
Sun 06 Jan, 2019 8:17 am
I think you still have a pretty good strike rate.
Yes it's the WA's but not Weld. It's closer to the artys from where I am.
Sun 06 Jan, 2019 9:53 am
Somewhere along Schnells Ridge?
Sun 06 Jan, 2019 9:55 am
That's the one NNW.

Neat. Thanks. Where's this?

Coming down to Lake Rodway from the pass between Bensons Peak and Mt Emmett
Sun 06 Jan, 2019 11:20 am
Long way away (quite apart from the fact I was going up).

We did. A bit slow with my brother-in-law nursing a troublesome knee but warm enough to enjoy waiting. Also a bit crowded with 15 people camping at each site on the range as shown by this picture at High Moor.

are you looking down on the clearing between the Hippogriff and The Chimera?
Mon 07 Jan, 2019 4:35 pm
No, I'm in an area much more frequently visited.
Officially, what I am on no longer exists. And it would fit in nicely with the "colour" theme we used a while back.

Oh come on, won't someone please step up?
