Are you somewhere on the north-eastern part of the central plateau?
Tue 08 Jan, 2019 9:24 am
second WAG - Clear Hill??
Tue 08 Jan, 2019 9:35 am
I'll go for a colourful Blue Tier.
Tue 08 Jan, 2019 9:50 am
Everyone is still a long way away. Clear Hill is the closest (geographically), but it's not even in the right NP.

Just think about those two.

Only thing I can think of would be a re-routed track in a popular place, like the Loddon area. The track up Philps Lead could possibly step-like. But not colourful. Unless Philps was a communist.

Not so much a rerouted track as one that is officially closed.

If this doesn't go off in another couple of hours, I'm throwing the game open to whomever wishes to post the next photo.

Golden stairs? Looking eastish?
Tue 08 Jan, 2019 11:27 am
Yes. Yes! YESSSSSS!!!! At last. As simple as that - climbing up the old Golden Stairs track to the Mawson plateau and cunningly framing the shot so that no really obvious giveaways were in it (except for Seagers).
Thank you Last, you may continue with my blessing.

Thanks NNW, another cunning pic. This one isn't, shouldn't trouble anyone too much. A limited range on the work computer.

83 views and no guesses. The highest peak on the horizon has a distinctive profile, shouldn't be hard to recognise. The one on the far left is well known too.

Looks like Frenchmans at the back, with maybe Eldon Peak to the left. If so, could be on anything from Murchison to Lyell.
Wed 09 Jan, 2019 5:36 pm
do you want to pick one?
Wed 09 Jan, 2019 6:00 pm
I shall start with Geikie.
Wed 09 Jan, 2019 6:13 pm
Well then I will come in with the steal with you being at the summit trig point on Mt Murchison with quite a zoom.
Wed 09 Jan, 2019 8:20 pm
Well stolen by Beardless. Not much zoom though, its only an old point and shoot.

Thanks Last. Sorry NNW. I love Murchison. It will always be one of my favourite mountains.
Where was I?

On the way into Lake Sydney
Wed 09 Jan, 2019 9:09 pm
That's right Tortoise. It is on route to Lake Sydney where at the top of a small knoll the track emerges for a few steps from dense forest with views to Federation Peak.

Thanks, beardless. I have a very similar photo from that delightful spot. Next one:

There are some very well known mountains there, albeit from a less common angle.

My first thought is you are looking at Du Cane range?
