With a clue like that it points to Drys Bluff but it doesn't match my (limited) pics.

Both are getting closer but still a way off. Wild Dog is a bit too far south. Drys is closer.

Agreed - but if it is Projection Bluff - I think he must be looking south east, towards Sandbanks Tier

Sorry guys, a bit slow to get going this morning. Yes it is from Projection Bluff.
That direction looks about right eggs, based on my recollection as it was a number of years ago.
I took a variety of shots in different directions and zoom settings, mainly from around the top of the escarpment above the road.
