Nope. Miles east of here. From the summit of Mount Bogong draw two line east and south. In that quadrant.

Close enough. The slide only has the walker's name and not where he is. The slide before is Cleft Peak, and that could be where he is. The pic may have been taken with a tele, thus making the rock look steeper than it is. All yours.

I've never been to NT, but this looks like America's Pine Gap base. Possibly not a useful thing to have on Australian soil right now.

I'll go next to keep this moving, but eggs obviously knew more about your location than me.

This is a camping area in a national park in Victoria. Name both.

Looks a lot like the Little Desert.

Is it Eagle Swamp?

Jimjim, it is the Little Desert National Park. Not far from Eagle Swamp. But that is not an "official" camping area on the so-called Desert Discovery walking track. So all that remains is to identify the camping area that has this dam.

Eggs, yes it is Mallee Camp.

A strange parallel here, in that you and I half-answered NNW's questions and you and jimjim half-answered my questions. I guess what that boils down to is that it's your go next. Sorry, jimjim, there's no justice.

Ah, justice...

I could recognise Broom Bush scrub from 1000 paces but haven't done the track in the Little Desert so that was a well educated guess. I googled a few pictures of the Little Desert and found Mallee Camp, but it just didn't seem right to claim the knowledge....

It is a beautiful part of the world and vastly underrated.

Thank You Eggs.

This is in Western Victoria.

If you are keen on birds this place is one of the best to see RTBCs.

Yes ! You recollect correctly.

Bailey's Rocks camping area in Dergholm. A lovely quite spot to escape the crowds. (and perhaps spot a few RTBCs)

Thanks, jimjim. I walked there a few times before I had a camera, but your shot reminded me of the scene. Not that a happy child with a haphazardly packed backpack was in view then. No humans of any type were in view, because as you say, it's a good place to escape crowds. (And RTBCs may visit because they are happy to avoid same -- I heard or saw none.) Next up is one from South Australia.

I'd say you're looking at Wilpena Pound. If you'd like more detail than that...well I've never been, so anyone else is welcome to chime in with a few more specifics!

I reckon J M should get it.
But it does look a bit like the view of Rawnsley Bluff and Point Bonney from somewhere out Pugelist Hill way.
I suspect you are not near the main Wilpena Road

Eggs, I agree that J M should take it. The photograph is from near Martins Well Road, about three kilometres west of Pugilist Hill, looking at the south-eastern corner of Wilpena Pound.

The game is a learning exercise. I have learned lots over time.
But in this case, while the description said Monoliths on Jim Jim Creek, I did not realise until a little more research that this is a campsite on top of the escarpment - upstream from that falls.
It also appears that it requires special permission to access - so perhaps a guided tour is required?

Ahhh I looked at the post from the 5th of July by accident and saw Twin Falls. The 6th of July is essentially the same photo as the one I posted! It is indeed the monoliths and is an afternoon's walk upstream from Jim Jim Falls. There isn't a specific campsite or track but the area does require a permit to access (not necessarily a guided tour although I believe this is a possibility). I'm fortunate enough that my housemate is from the NT and this facilitated approval of our permit application; apparently it can be quite difficult otherwise. A stunning area that we were lucky enough to have 5 days to explore - if anyone ever gets the chance, I'd highly recommend checking it out.
Over to you eggs.
