I thought this would be easy, everyone must be away. A walk to the village would be final.

Not Perisher, a fair way from there, but you are in the right general area and can possibly see this from it. The previous clue was quite cryptic.

A curious area of pools in the saddle there.

Next one is in Vic

I'll take a fairly wild stab and guess that it is the partially bald head of Mt Arthur....

New South Wales. Lots of people will know the locality, but what mountain is this taken from?

Budawangs... looking towards Shrouded Gods, Mooryan and Nibelung (and Talaterang in the background)... from one of the (I think) unnamed pinnacles in Monolith Valley that you can scramble up to from the climb out of the valley (heading west from the bridge) towards Mt. Owen?

EDIT: Could also be on the eastern end of Cole with a bit of zoom?

You are right about the scene (looking towards Shrouded Gods, Mooryan and Nibelung, and Talaterang in the background). It's not taken from Mt Cole, and there's no zoom (just a gentle crop). It's not taken from one of the unnamed pinnacles; I was fair and square on a named mountain when I took it.

You will get it now. Just name the mountain then take it away with your own photo.

Not Donjon, jonnosan.

In retrospect I should have awarded it to Fatboy. Maybe the most distant people are on an unnamed pinnacle rather than the mountain, but I asked where the photo was taken from, and it was definitely taken from Mt Owen proper.

But Fatboy got the scene spot on, so take it away.

so I've been waiting for fatboy to post something, but on rereading ribucks last post I can see maybe it was meant to be me? In any case since it's been more than a day without a new pic, here's one from NSW to get things started again

Kind of reminds of the old STP below the Federal Pass at Katoomba. But the scene looks totally wrong for that.

It is possible the first european to visit this spot was Francis Barrallier, although none of the names of the features in the photo itself reflect that.

Not Yerranderie Peak but that might be a reasonable access point for this spot.

McArthur's Flat on the Nattai (although it takes me more than an hour from the car, if you include negotiating the river crossing).

From the clue, somewhere between Square Rock and Squatting Rock gap. I'll have a guess and say Colong Point?
