Re: Game: Where-is-it (Aussie)

Thanks, johnw. But just to be picky, you've captioned your photo as "Tinpot Mountain" whereas it shows Tinpot Hill. Tinpot Mountain is almost west of Ironpot Mountain, only 300m from Goolara Peak.

This one is in NSW. The name of the mountain range or the park will be enough (because I don't remember which peak the photo was taken from).

Psst, ribuck, I think you should change the name of the photo - it's a bit of a giveaway (or you are pulling something sneaky a la lophophaps).

Quite correct ribuck. Either my compass or typing are off today, probably both. Now fixed.

Don't worry, it's not giving anything away. I already changed it from the original filename which did give away the answer.

People might go via Coonabarabran if they were going to this park from Sydney, but it's not the Warrumbungles.

This is the same park:

I'm heading off bushwalking, so if I have no signal and don't respond, feel free to keep the game going.

Mount Kaputar NP (or have I fallen for ribuck's false hints)?

I initially thought Warrumbungles but now i'm confused

You got it, Tyreless, it's the Kaputar Ranges.

Thanks ribuck - looks very nice (and now added to my ever-growing list).

Next one - where will I be going this Sunday (in NSW)...

North of Morton NP.

Some clues...

This is in Blue Mountains NP. The name of the photo file is a clue as to the name of the feature on the right-hand side of the photo.

I've been studying this, the features on the right look very familiar but I can't quite reconcile the background. The clue makes me think it is Venus Tor. In which case I've been there but I don't have my own photos handy to confirm.

Are you heading off to Wollangambe Crater?

Yes, it's Venus Tor. Lots of great views in that part of the world.

Thanks Tyreless, some years since I visited it. Discovered that I actually took multiple photos of pretty much that exact view - Senior moment.

What am I standing next to in NSW?

Not sneaky enough. Next one, NSW. Where am I trying to camouflage myself?

Blackhorse Ridge perhaps?

Right national park, but it’s not Blackhorse.

(I’m off exercising my leg to Veuns Tor today so I will check in again tonight.)

I'm thinking Yellow Pup, although if you can post the same photo without the low cloud it will help.

I reckon ribuck is probably right, but if he's not then I would split the difference and say blue dog.

Right part of the world but this ridge is not named after a dog.

Not confident but I'll try Pots and Pans Spur.

How was Venus Tor?

Not Pots and Pans. Other side of the Cox.

Thanks for asking! It was great. We then walked to Hurley Heights fire trail - lots of fun.

Perhaps the hills in the left distance are where people are monging some iron. In which case you've just humped some scrub (or perhaps scrubbed a hump).

I scrubbed no humps nor ironed no mongs. This was part of a K2K walk.
