It looks like the Grose but not sure where - I'll take a stab at the Pierces Pass crossing although it's not at the spot where I usually cross. But I may also be way off...

It looks a bit like the Grose, but it's further north.

So, likely the Wollangambe or the Colo - to narrow it down I'll try the Colo. Or I am totally wrong - again .

You got it, John. Your go next. It's the Colo, about 1km south of Canoe Creek, heading to Pass 17B to climb to Savage Ridge.

Thanks Tyreless. I haven't been to that part of the Colo (yet), so really was a guess.

From the glimpse of houses and bush at 0:17, the outline of the rock when viewed from above, and the clear view across to Mt Solitary at 0:18, I was able to use Google Maps Satellite View to locate it at Lincoln's Rock, Wentworth Falls.

I had to google 'Lincoln's Rock' to confirm it's the same spot, I have always known it as 'Flat Rock' - seems it got renamed in 2013.

Well done ribuck, over to you.

Thanks jonnosan. I've been so close to that rock many times, but haven't visited it yet.

For my turn, I'm asking for the name (or location) of any of the following features from the video, which was filmed in the NSW Blue Mountains:

  • The cascades at 2:02
  • The cavern at 2:07
  • The cavern at 2:40 (might be the same as the one at 2:07)
  • The rock at 3:28
  • The pointy peak at 4:14
I'm pushing the game to its limits here, because I don't know the answers (although I have some ideas). I'm hoping that it will be possible to corroborate or disprove the answers posted by others.

the cavern at 2:07 and 2:40 is the devil's coach house at Jenolan Caves. I took my kids there a few days ago, which is what prompted me to think of that video. Actually while driving out there I was musing on whether or not the caves are actually within the Blue Mountains or not. I guess it all depends on what definition is chosen.

I will leave the other spots for others to guess, I can corroborate them with varying degrees of confidence.

According to wikipedia parts of the video were filmed in Grand Canyon. I guess that must be the cascades at 2.02, although those cascades could be just about anywhere.

I reckon the Wikipedia entry is wrong. According to the page history, the reference to 'grand canyon' was added in May 2017, but a rando who seems to have no special knowledge of the band or the Blue Mountains.

In fact I think I will fix it now :-)

Good on you, jonnosan, for doing the edit.

I don't imagine the film crew wants to carry their gear a long way. Lincoln's Rock and Devil's Coach House are easy enough to get to, but I doubt they would go down into Grand Canyon to film at a fairly ordinary cascade.

OK if no-one else is going to answer, I will jump in.

1) I am 90% sure the 'cascades' are just a water feature opposite the Jenolan Caves ticket office - you can see it here on google street view https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-33.8197802,150.0217524,3a,15y,133.13h,83.08t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s5SqVEwZAp81DvAyoa0sCyw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
2) the remaining shots are at Walls Lookout, accessed from Pierces Pass / BLOR

I reckon you're correct about Jenolan Caves. The vegetation matches perfectly.

I presume the pointy peak at 4:14 is Lockley Pylon. I think the opening shot might be Perry's Lookdown, but I can't match it up 100%.

It's a pity they didn't film at Hanging Rock. That would have been a spectacular shot. As it was, I was expecting someone to jump off Lincoln's Rock.

yes I think you are right about Lockleys Pylon and Perry's. When I said 'remaining shots are walls lookout' I meant the shots with the band, and including the shot at 3:28. But it looks like they had a chopper fly around the upper Grose as well.

I agree they missed a trick with Hanging Rock, especially since I guess with permission from the appropriate authorities they could have driven almost right to it.

Anyway does this mean it's time for someone to post another photo now?

Been too long since I've had a go in here, so I'm taking the opportunity. Loved the concept of the previous entry - though it would have been better if I'd recognised anything.

Where was I four years ago today?
