Thanks Michael, I know the general locality reasonably well.

NSW again. This one might be more difficult:

We ascended a route scrambling up the rocks to the right of the cascades, having climbed up here via other pretty cascades below us at the end of the formed track. Wandered along the creek above until we eventually found a fire trail that led us to the only major road through this very wet (usually) and rainforesty area in the hills below the escarpment. Made a circuit back to the start descending along the narrow winding road with little protection from traffic.

Quite a distance from Wattamolla/RNP. It can get pretty cold up on the escarpment from now on.

the flora doesn't seem alpine at all so my guess is the colder climate referred to is New England region - Gloucester Falls at Barrington Tops maybe?

The name of the walk location has a colonial connection.

Wattamolla was closer distance-wise. This is south of Sydney, not alpine, but maybe ~250 m elevation above me it gets cold like the Blueys.

Not Clover Hill eggs, but you couldn't be much closer. I walked past there on the way back to the start. You'll get it next guess.

Not Mulangong Falls, getting colder. I should have said I walked past the Clover Hill track head on the way back to the start.

The only thing that seems to match your description is Cascade Falls up to Calderwood trail - but photos do not seem to match

Edit - I think I get it - your photo is probably higher up and unnamed

Correct on both counts eggs. My location is usually referred to as Upper Cascades Falls, although I doubt that is an official name.

The game is often very slow these days. To get things started I'll try Alligator Gorge.

Took this shot this year after my first visit to the gorge.
It's not in the Flinders Ranges but remarkably close to Adelaide.

Onkaparinga Gorge was my first thought, but then thinking through the clue I say Mt remarkable Nation Park.

"Remarkably" was not cryptic.
I should have said really close - so close its a wonder it took so long to visit it.

I kept wanting to go with Mt Remarkable for the same reason and couldn't reconcile the close to Adelaide bit. We're obviously overthinking it .

Thanks Eggs- you are too kind.

I haven't actually walked in the Onkaparinga Gorge. The day I went I parked up high with a view to dropping down into it but the weather was about 38C and the thought of visiting a winery near the car was just to tempting in that heat. Next time I'm over I'll make sure to check it out, looks quite impressive for a day walk so close to Adelaide.

So that Eggs can win again this next one is also in SA.

Re the Onkaparinga -
The tracks along the river were very rough and overgrown in parts. The more "official" routes are also a bit poor in parts.
When we did it in early April the water levels were quite low - I suspect some parts would be impassable in winter.
But the gorge sections are quite spectacular.

One section in the upper gorge is a well used rock climbing face - and we saw rock climbers in several sections that day.

Thank you.
I can't remember if this feature has a name or not. Surely it does. So please name the main feature this walk goes to and, if you can, name this feature. In Victoria.
