I'll have to be an armchair geographer since I haven't been there (yet). Try further north - Palmers Oakey Creek?

Nope, not that creek either. That's on my list for a return visit.

OK, too far north. I read your trip report and know you visited Big Flat and were near the dam at one point.
I'll stick to that general vicinity. Dry Arm Creek has an impressive escarpment to its east on the map...

Close enough. That's the right escarpment, but Dry Arm Creek is out of frame to the right (west). The branch in the photo is Middle Arm Creek. Imaginative naming!

Thanks, very generous (probably named by an engineer ). I would have tried Middle Arm Creek next .
Unfortunately it can be trial and error for unfamiliar, less visited places. It does look worth a trip.

NSW, name the falls:

This popular area has a number of named waterfalls including this one. But this one only appears on some maps.

Is that Flat Rock Falls in the Valley of the Waters? (It's about 10 years since I've been there, so my memory is pretty hazy.)

A few years since I took this and must admit I was somewhat unsure myself - and the maps don't help! I should revisit and document all of them myself.
I was originally thinking it was Red Rock Falls, but Dave Noble's blog confirmed it as Flat Rock Falls. Over to you Tim.

Dave isn't infallible, but he's certainly more reliable than my memory!

Here's another one from NSW. Where would you find these boulders...

I agree, a very interesting place to explore with some great views to the west. Also, the trout fishing in the rivers around there is good as well.

Nice photo FatCanyoner and not that well known in Sydney which is a good thing.
This place in NSW is pretty well known though.

Thanks johnw. The sunset around the corner that evening was amazing, typical of the Main Range in fine weather but I thought this photo was more interesting. Your go

Definitely looks like sandstone, but the Sydney basin stretches a long way. Perhaps it's somewhere in Brisbane Water National Park?
