If you are suggesting that there has been a firetrail cut near either Mt Scabby or Mt Kelly then that is fairly worrying but I guess its better than having the whole nature reserve burn...

Mt Kelly?

Hmm not Mt Kelly but you did mention Mt Scabby so I'll let you have it. The stream pictured is the Cotter River which is sourced from the bowl that forms the Scabby summit. The photo is looking north to Bimberi etc. If you haven't been there, I highly recommend it.

A bulldozer pushed a trail up there during the 1983 fire. As you might expect, I disagree with the use of the bulldozer as there is little evidence that a single narrow bulldozer containment line has any impact on the progress of a fire.

I've been up Scabby and the range several times. There was no sign of a firetrail near Mt Scabby any time I have visited in the past 10 years (not doubting you btw). What direction did the trail come from? presumably off Yaouk trail?

That looks like Corang Arch (Budawangs), looking back towards the cave under the "mainland".

I've spoken to a driver who claims to have been the driver but he wasn't clear on the route. It either came up from Sams Creek or more likely it came up from Yaouk Gap where a vehicular trail can be followed along the ridge towards Scabby.

Remnants of the bulldozer line can be seen from some remote imagery - it was driven around the sphagnum bog on the summit.

Very interesting. Thanks for the info. Definitely not the kind of place I would like to see any more signs humans than there needs to be, its way too nice up there. Ill do some research and see what I can find out about 83.

Cheers.

The peak on the left skyline looks like Cobbler. Maybe the Warby Ranges in the middle and Buffalo on the right. I cannot reconcile the angle of the shot with any recollection. It seems to be taken from the Helicopter Spur-Viking region.

Quite a way away from Helicopter Spur, but the Viking is right so far as the origin goes. So, being "Where is it", what would the dominant feature in the middle ground be?

That is the fantastically bare-rock Razor - with its dense scrub I got tangled in, in the gully before the main peak.

This is a delightful mountain top.
So not near Ropers or Macalister Springs - although the Macalister Springs location is almost in view.

Yes to Mt Buggery.
Camped there twice now - strange name for a nice place.
However, we were quite buggered the first time we climbed up the face of it, and this last trip, on my first pass it was miserably wet and muddy looking.
This was my stopover on the way back.

This was a maiden voyage for the chair - and yes - it was fantastic.
