Not the Greatish Ocean Walk. This is in the eastern half of the state.

I haven't walked it all, but is it possibly Telegraph track (prom)?

You've got it, J M. Well, I assume this is probably a section of the original route of Telegraph Track because the poles would seem to indicate that. I have not been able to confirm that. Current maps and track notes refer to it as an unnamed walking track between Martins Hill and Roaring Meg, being an alternative to the slightly shorter route on the (less attractive) road.

I realise that there were not many clues in the photograph (though there is one more on the horizon: the peak of Rodondo Island), but I thought that there would not be a lot of Victorian walkers who have not done this popular track.

Cheers peregrinator - the poles, vegetation and sandy track were good clues.

I'm away from my photo stash at the moment so anyone is welcome to post next.

JM, thanks. This is in Victoria, not the beach.

Reminds me of the view south towards Cleve Cole from the track somewhere near Tadgell Point. But the foreground shadow doesn't seem right. Maybe it is from a large beach umbrella?

yes - the foreground does not match any of my views from the Cleve Cole area, but the background does.
So it might be on the AAWT heading East from T-Spur Knob on the side of Bossiaea Hill

Not Tadgell Point, but it looks similar. No umbrella. Eggs, very close. T Spur Knob is on T Spur, and the track goes roughly north-south, not east. T Spur Knob is about 2 kilometres from Bossiaea Hill. Can you be a little more specific?

Thanks for that clarification, eggs. I don't have any shots to help identify the spot as I didn't own a camera when walking up there.

You are 300m due east of the top of Bossiaea Hill
At around that point the AAWT is running roughly north south and has passed to the turnoff to Camp Valley / Cleve Cole Hut

Near enough. You did not state the air temperature or the fact that the way I was going the Cleve Cole turnoff had not been reached. Long Spur needs a 4WD service to the end of the vehicle track, where one sees this:
Picnic end road.jpg

They are breeding on the Bogong High Plains and nearby. After the picnic table there needs to be an escalator.

Curious. I am yet to get on the Long Spur track, but I did get to the junction.

I've been conditioning my wife to the idea that we will visit the region sometime after I retire, probably later next year.

To mix it up here is one from QLD:

That's it, possibly the best of the smaller falls in the mountains (when they're flowing).
Lovely walk through the various falls in that vicinity. Yours ww.

Hint. This ridge (route it's part of) has some bushwalking historical significance.

EDIT.(Sunday morning)
Hint 2 - Myles Dunphy descended this ridge during one of his early and most well known trips. The ridge is named for its stone formations and Myles sketched one of them
