Is that the view from Swindlers Spur, on the way down to Dibbins Hut?

Not Swindlers Spur. This place is more hideous.

Clues make me think of Horrible Gap, Terrible Hollow, Mt Despair. Horrible Gap seems the most likely, given the view . . .

That has to be the best concatenation of names in Australia. From Speculation via Horrible Gap to Buggery; out the other side is Despair. Go astray and you end up in the Terrible Hollow.
If only Bare Buttocks Creek was in the same area . . .

This was also taken in Victoria. A simple what from where?

The Pilot it is. Not McCarthys, but I have too much to do to haggle. It's from up on the Davies Plain Track, a few km past the junction. In this case, near enough is good enough. Take it away, eggs.

Light to Light walk in Ben Boyd NP. About 12 kms in walking south? No idea of the name of the bay though.
And he sees the vision splendid of the sunlit plains extended,
And at night the wondrous glory of the everlasting stars.
