Yeah, Old Great North Road was the one I was trying to recall. Built by convict labour starting 1825.

Neither Bells or Old Great North Road. But yes, it is a convict era road.

Bringing the game photo onto the current page:
167_6745 resized.JPG
Southern part of Old Meryla Road (Timelong Trail) which disappears under Lake Yarrunga ~ 2km north of Beehive Point, Morton NP via Kangaroo Valley NSW

Further clue. It's not in the Blue Mountains.

The old road disappears into the drink just behind where I'm standing and resurfaces about 500 m north on the opposite bank.

Not the Old Great North Road. Probably ~160 km south of there.

Alongtime ago, the old road was built at some point after the route was made known to Europeans by a prominent Aboriginal around [EDIT] 1818.
Sorry to interrupt my story, but I can hear a swarm of insects buzzing about 2 km to my south.

Not Parramatta River or anywhere in the greater Sydney metro area. Much further south-ish.
There is a lot of information in my last (somewhat cryptic) clues, including the answer itself, twisted around slightly.
That and the clue before that give a fairly close estimate of location.
This is in a bushwalking, paddling and cycling area in general. I am on a disconnected part of this old trail.
I'm in one of the largest national parks in NSW.
There is a small, but very popular, tourist town in a nearby valley.

I'll pay all of that Greg. I was actually thinking of the alternate/nickname of Timelong Trail when I posted the clues (Timelong was the Aboriginal man who showed the route to Charles Throsby in 1818).
But yes, it is definitely the bottom section of the Old Meryla Road. I'm about 2 km north of Beehive Point, where the old road is now drowned under Lake Yarrunga/Yarrunga Creek.
It resurfaces about 500 m behind me where it continues north to join Griffins Firetrail up to Meryla Pass (I've visited that area far more than this spot). Found some interesting info here:
https://visitkangaroovalley.com.au/sites/visitkangaroovalley.com.au/files/download/kv_old_meryla_road.pdf
Strangely SIX Maps online only shows the section of trail/road I'm on in one of its views. I'm having a cup of coffee and too lazy to get off my bum to check the paper topo.
All yours...

Yes, a very nice place, I was last there in 19mumblesomethingmumble and remember it fondly. The clues DID help considerably!

This next spot is pretty easily recognised I hope, where was it taken and the name of the feature in the background if you please.

OK John, you are correct it is the Kedumba Valley with the eponymous Walls in the background, specifically the Lions Head to the right of the cliff line. I was down there last time in May 2019 looking at the restoration work on Maxwells Hut/House. The whole area was very dry at that time and I was pretty worried in January that the hut would be lost but it miraculously survived, it would have been an RFS/ NPWS sort of miracle I guess. Its only a thirty min drive and two hour walk away and I want to go back there as soon as the restrictions are lifted, there's some good exploring to be had up and down the valley, eg old airstrip, and it is worthwhile to spend a bit of time there. I tend to see a lot of walkers head down/*&%$#! up making speed to their their next way point(Solitary or Bodington) without bothering to check-out Kedumba.

The ball is back to you John.

Thanks Greg, I was just about to come back with Lions Head Ridge/Kedumba Walls (should have read the question properly).
Last time I was down that way was a full day traverse of the Jamison Valley over Solitary several years ago.
Years before that we been down to the old farm etc and Maxwells Hut was undergoing restoration even then. Ongoing funding is usually the limitng factor with such projects.
I too would like to go back down there at some point once we have all been let loose again. I'll find another photo and post by this evening.

Next is more a tourist shot than bushwalking, but for some variety. It's in NSW.

'Tis indeed. Most times when I am there it is the Kiama No-hole, with a disappointed crowd waiting for something to happen. Kiama is a nice place for a short break, with plenty of good walking.

Here's a tip: when the tide and swell aren't right for the Kiama blowhole, the Little Blowhole (accessed from Tingira Crescent) is often spectacular. At its best it blows much higher than the main one, although the diameter is much smaller.
