Based on my hazy recollections of around 44 years ago, either Nullarbor NP or Nullarbor Regional Reserve?

In this case, first in was best dressed. Possibly the best reason to drive the Oodnadatta track, the mound springs at Wabma Kadarbu..

Thanks for the recommendation; I'll have to get there. I've known about the mound springs through the work of an artist friend who has done many paintings at several locations in the area. She has also been active as a campaigner against corporate exploitation of the springs fed by the diminishing resource of the Great Artesian Basin.

Another SA picture. Name the gorge. Perhaps you could also name the central peak?

Naming mountains in the Flinders is quite difficult in the absence of an online topo map.
I have the Emergency Services Map Book and although Parachilna Gorge with the road in it is reasonably easy,
the peak might be Mount Samuel.

Yes, Parachilna Gorge is correct. Looking down from north of it to the junction with Oratunga Creek. And you got Mt Samuel too. All without a topo.

Have you looked at andrewp's OSM maps?

The view was not dissimilar to one I took from the top of Mt Falkland, but the peaks do not come with labels.
I did not have an online topo, but the book I mentioned is an exhaustive topo mapping of the Flinders Ranges over 190 pages long.
It was a recent purchase and much appreciated.
However, your suggestion led me to Open Street Map online - which appears to have a number of peaks named - not quite Mt Samuel though, but its adjacent and smaller Mt Samuel Proper. I have book marked it now.

We will stay in SA for the next one.

Sure is johnw, remember meeting a guy at Penong called Sharkbait. He'd been attacked by Sharks not once but twice!

 That's probably why I've never taken up surfing. I vaguely remember travelling through Penong about 44 years ago when a mate and I drove across the Nullarbor to WA when a lot younger.

That's it puredingo, on Griffins Trail just near Gales Flat below Meryla Pass.
We did call in to Griffins Farm briefly much further down the hill, while attempting to discover an overgrown old track documented by Robert Sloss.

This reminds me of Rocky Waterholes Creek and the Nattai Valley, although a bit different to my recollection.

Sorry, no not in the Nattai. Definitely down South but maybe only slightly East.

I’ll try and think of a clue if nobody else wants to hazard a stab.

Yeh SE has me stumped. Was thinking either Ettrema or tallowa gully/Bundanoon ck area but they're both more or less due south from the nattai

You got the area right FatBoy, would you like to try for the bonus prize? A clue perhaps (Obscure as it is)

If Alan was to follow his creek he could camp under Jacks cliff.

In trying to unravel the clue I've come up with Jones Creek descending into Ettrema Gorge, which eventually confluences with Ettrema Creek below Thompsons Cliff...

Exactly John. Just above the giant falls and before the mine as you wind down to the junction of the Ettrema, under Thompson cliff.... just as you described.
