The picture was bothering me. I knew the place but I could not recall where it is. Then Greg said StGwinear and I knew the answer. The first pic is the game we are playing. The second pic is in NSW.

Bogong somewhere, again? And now we've switched states, I'll try Dickie Cooper Bogong. At least I know it's not Bogong Equipment, Little Bourke Street.

Why cannot it be the Grose Valley? Where do people get these strange ideas? It's not Bogong Equipment either, but it is sort of close to Dicky Cooper Bogong. Try the creek leading to Rams Heads. It will be wrong but I like puzzles. A hint - it's in KNP above about 5000 feet according to Mr Lamble's most excellent 1978 map. I must get a new map.

Don't get a new map unless you want to mess with this new-fangled metric muck. 5000 sounds so much better than 1524. Plus, you'll have to learn to pronounce KIL-ometre, not Ki-LOM-etre. Most people can't, especially me.

OK, I'll try the creek leading to Ramsbottom? Oh, sorry, that's in Manchester, 174 miles from Londinium.

metric? How quaint. Tim Lamble's map was one of the very best of KNP. Another was the SMA 1" to 1 mile series. Hint - Tim's Jagungal map stopped near Schlink Pass, so Ramsbottom or Rams Heads are out of contention. A gay friend of mine lives in Ramsbottom.

As far as I am aware the creek has no name. It leads to a ridge that is a well-known route from ... but that would be telling.

It looks South Rams Head-ish. I’ll try Leather Barrel Creek, in case the earlier comment was not a red herring.

Valentines Creek is much closer. There was a major clue - Tim Lamble's Jagungal map stops near Schlink Pass. This is the map coverage:
SW corner - Geehi Reservoir
Western edge - 2 km west of Rocky Bogong
Northern edge - a little north of Spencers Peak
Eastern edge - Just takes in Constances Hut
Southern edge - Just take in Schlink Pass
The creek is on that map. I said that the Rams Head creek was wrong.

The boulders and vegetation make me think this is one of the creeks that comes off the Kerries / Gungarten pass. The lack of packs could indicate an excursion from either one of the huts in the area. Possibly the Schlink Hilton.

Close enough. This is heading east up onto The Kerries from near Schlink Hilton, probably the creek at the hut. It was a half day trip from camp on Gungartan, which that day had lovely pools full of cold water. Alas, I have not seen the pools in the last 15 years.

I probably know the place and may post a pic of the hut before it vanished. Someone else can guess this one.

Not Twynam. The clouds do make it a bit tricky. However, its an area many people have walked repeatedly so I couldn’t make it to easy
