GBW, you should have left your first image that you altered, the way you originally posted it ... and then posted the true shot.

Warren.

Seems to be a bit of confusion (I came in late so wasn't aware there was an original image that was altered?), and technically Warren and LLH are correct as it is at the Hell Hole / Round Mtn track junction. So one of them can post... Otherwise I'll post one a bit later on

It looks like just before Derschkos, with Pugilistic Creek in the middle of the pic, facing south. Might be Hell Hole, similar.

Reminds me of Moorilla Maloo? From where the track drops off the plateau on the Gangerangs (couple of k's north of Dex Ck)?

According to my topo Moorlla Maloo is just to the left, and the photo is showing Mt Moorilla and Morilla lockout, but yeah that's the spot.

Ah yeh I think Moorilla Maloo is the little narrow hill just off the main track (nice little side trip)... the hills in the photo are further around the ridge.

Anyway... NSW again:

That looks like classic blue mountains terrain, but the ridge\'s don''t line up with any spot I remember ever seeing, so I reckon it must be somewhere south east of Yerranderie. Knowing from previuus post that you've done some walks around the Natai, I am going to jab my finger randomly on the topo and say.... Mt Egan?

Hmmm... Currockbilly in the Budawangs, perhaps? It'll be embarrassing if I get it wrong though, as I was only up there the other weekend...

Not sure where you are though. Somewhere out on Admiration Point?

But yeah, I agree with Jonno, my first thought was 'Oooh, Blue Mountains!'

That'll do. Admiration is actually in the photo (the cliff poking over the ridge in the right foreground). Yurnga lookout is left foreground. It's taken from the narrow (unnamed) ridge that protrudes west from Bibbenluke Mtn from a spot about halfway between the Burumbeet Caves and Bibbenluke Camp. If walking east from Corang it's the highish point that you reach after you've climbed out of the Bibbenluke valley.

Anyway, all yours.

Ah, thanks for the map. I does indeed make more sense that way. I thought you were asking about the skyline (hence Currockbilly), rather than the foreground. Don't think it'd be fair for me to go; I kinda missed the point of the photo. Anyone can take it.

Which war?

That's Fitzgeralds. Unless I'm getting the names mixed up. But it's the one where I took the shot which is the only surviving souvenir of my beloved old battered, tattered, patched bush hat.

And that rough horse yard behind it - certainly reminds me of the one at Fitzys. Where else is there one like that - Tawonga huts?

C'mon, we need a clue!

On further consideration though, I have been searching for alpine huts. But I can't imagine anyone building a hut with a level roof in an area subject to snow. So either the roof has come off, or it's well below the snow line.

Still no guesses though....

Clue? NNW wants a clue? Surely it is well known that I am clueless. However, the threat of blunt force trauma is enough. I'm a black belt in ... cowardice. West of Fitzys, on Bogong High Plains region. That hut no longer exists. I did say it was a pre-war photo. I've skied to the hut.

And you still haven't explained which war. Afghanistan? Vietnam? Korea? WWII? Boer? American Civil? Trojan?

It was before Afghanistan and after the Trojan war. Carrying a 12" plate glass negative was hard.
