Thanks cajun.
This hut is within 100km of Melbourne (as the crow flies) in a rather steep but attractive valley.

Hint : Another nearby structure is a popular summer skiing location.

Hint 2: There is no truth to the rumour that Dennis the Menace's next door neighbour lived here.

I thought maybe Wilson Hut but Google Images suggests it might be Wilson Creek Hut.

That will do Graham all yours.
Wilsons Creek Hut and the other structure is a fallen down rock battery from prior gold rush days.
It's a short steep walk down into the valley but a very pretty valley it is.

I couldn't have guessed without the clues but having been brought up with Dennis on TV it was easy.
This is in NT - from where?

That's right NNW. We left a group of ladies all dressed up in their active wear and walked the extra kilometre to Counts Point to take in this stunning view.

It's worth it. I'd love to camp there, though it's a long way to haul water.

Still in the Territory. Name the waterfall.

since no-one else is guessing, and I am pretty confident it's not anywhere within 50km of the great western highway which is my usual lair, I will assume it's most likely somewhere in the Morton NP, so randomly picking spots from the topo with interesting names that might look like that: tims gully?

Morton NP is visible in the distance, but this isn't taken from there.

Should add that Tim's gully isn't too far away from here, maybe 15-20 k's away?

Close enough. It's actually from the climber's track that splinters off from near the top of the western end of the Red Track loop. The photo is taken from above the lip of the (eastern end of the) slot canyon.

First thought was Mawson. Second was Happys. but it's been so long since I visited either . . .
. . . and then I started wondering about Mackeys . . .
