But the hole looks too neat for a natural cave. More like a mine adit or maybe a tunnel related to the Snowy Mountains hydro scheme?

It’s natural as far as I know. I’ve been inside the cave. You are pretty close John. Not many people come down this way

Lucky guess, I wondered what might be beyond the end of Clark Gorge.
Seemed a possible fit looking at the terrain, but I couldn't find a similar image anywhere.

I'll stay with NSW:

Correct GBW, although I could probably think of a more eloquent description :).
Australia's highest toilets tunneled into the base of the mountain were actually yet to be built when I took this.
I've often informally referred to it as Mount Etheridge or Etheridge Peak. I think Rawson Peak is another informal name.
Worth a climb too, for the views and to watch the endless parade of ants ascending Mt K. next door.

Thanks GBW. I looked through my own photos and found a similar view towards Gungartan. Although the weather was less kind to us.

NSW again since this part of it is proving popular:

That's close enough crollsurf, it is on the Rams Head Range, looking towards Twynam et al across part of the Perisher Range.
I'm actually standing at the trig on Mt Duncan about 750 m from Porcupine Rocks, where I had lunch earlier.
