I think KB's are behind the rain shower.
Not sure what lphps had in mind on the left - but Cobbler is far left.

Well both Eagle Peaks and High Cone are in view.
And strangely enough - the actual peak I am on has already been mentioned...

The Bluff perhaps

Yes GregR.
A bit of a circle in getting there - but the Bluff commands a central view of all these peaks.
Apologies for the degradation in the panorama when I had to constrain its size for posting [and my phone is not the best for photos.]
And I am not sure which peak Lophophaps thought was the Bluff in an earlier response.

didn't think it would be that easy.
Over to eggs

It was quick, but not easy.
Tas + setting made me think of Flinders Is, but could not see any obvious coastline match.
It was only going wider on google earth I noticed some islands further North.
Next one is an aerial shot in North Qld.
Name the river and falls
- Herbert River, North Qld
also a closer view
- Herbert River Falls, North Qld

Saw some incredible footage here of the flood earlier this month. Its the Herbert River, but its been a long time since I've been there so the name of the falls hasn't come to me........ ( but I'll guess Herbert River Falls?")

And you would be correct.
I have been to the Blencoe Falls a little further downstream, but have only seen these from the air.
And I see what you mean about recent flows...

Yeah I sometimes wonder how such a gorge can be carved out of such landscape and after seeing footage like that can begin to understand.......
Moving back to NT, what evening ascent am I commencing?

Does not look like any part of Tnorala I've been to. Doesn't look like Gillen. Looks more like Finke NP than anywhere else I've been, but I don't recall a tracked/named high point in there.
So, wild-arse guess . . . Zeil?

This is a tough one. I had figured it was not on the Larapinta, but assuming that is a setting sun [as stated] I will have a wild guess at Mount Razorback
PS - I think NNW might be right - the Bluff will be Haasts

I like your persistence Greg and you were flirting around the answer the whole time but I'm afraid nnw has the answer I was looking for.......
I was mixing it up and doing a night-time ascent of Mt Zeil (essentially because I had to fly out of Alice at 11am the next day and didn't finish work at Yuendumu until 4pm that day)

Nice. Wish I'd managed to get out there.
Staying the Territory. Where would you find this ex-tree (if it's still standing nearly 14 years after I took that shot)?

Wish I'd managed to get out there.
Yep its an all too familiar story - so many people come all the way from interstate (or even overseas) and go out and do the Larapinta which is nice and all (perhaps I've done it too many times
) but hardly anyone ventures over to Zeil. Its not too far from Redbank or if you want to drive close you can do what I did from the Papunya side. The mountain is practically untouched, a great climb and away from everything - my kind of thing! I was out there alone (no-one within 10ks, except a couple of inquisitive dingo's following me up until it became too windy for them) - added bonus was a full moon and a lunar eclipse!

Didn't know it was that easy from the other side. I always thought there were access issues with private landowners and the like, which is a big part of why I've never been up there.
Also my sort of thing. Be a great place to camp.
C'mon peeps, it's not that hard a shot to place. There arenn't that many places surrounded by ridges like these.

No issues at all - Ian the land owner is a good bloke (known him since I was a kid) and always happy to let people through his property provided you let him know you are coming through and leave it as you found it.
