Viking? The angle of the slope seems wrong, or maybe you are on the back slope, where the track goes up and down through all those rocks.

Yep it's the viking, just below the summit (on the back/south side as you say) looking over the Barry mtns. Short detour from the route to south viking.

Thanks. While I have not been there for ages, the angle, rock type and hills looked familiar. In Victoria.

To keep the game moving...

Is that the mighty Mount Bogong in the front... ;)

Nope. I'm facing away from Bogong, which is more or less behind me. The summit has no trees. If it proves too hard to guess the mountains in view then guess the summit.

After 2.5 days and one guess I'll respond to anything. First clue. This is on a major track that leads to Bogong, which can be seen if one turns around. Of course Jagungal can be seen from Bogong ...

Are you on the Twins?

Correct, looking south-westish. Here's the full pic, trimmed to remove the pole and road.

Actually it was the road and the faint outline of the Crosscut Saw with the Viking at back that led to my suggestion.

Next one is a scan of a photo from SA.
Where were we?

Yes - I was after St Marys Peak. And I had noticed the nice shot in this months comp.

Ha yep thought I’d be a bit cheeky and put that in the December comp (not supposed to be up there in December). Figured I justified doing the Wilpena Pound Circuit (+ St Mary Pk) considering my experience, leaving at 4:30am, getting back by 7am and beating the heat.

Lets stay in SA. What peak am I looking at?

It might be a tricky one - as in a view of St Marys Peak?

Maybe a bit tricky eggs (perhaps not for you though)

Neither is right but eggs in closer. I've added a wider shot taken a minute later

Actually I have changed my mind and will pay that peregrinator. I was looking for Binya Peak (silhouette on top right) but the rock in view on bottom right of photo has technically given you the win

My answer might have been more appropriate if I'd actually read your original question! I had assumed the name of the peak from where the shot was taken was to be identified.

Speaking of multiple peaks, what are the names of this Victorian pair (either side of the main saddle)?

Neil, them's the ones. The one on the left is actually Gorrin (there are other references in the district to that name), but Ghorin and Ghiran do seem to go together. Viewed from a few kilometres south of Buangor State Park.
