I can see how "the hamburger" has misled you. The bag is talking, and it is not about Macca's.

Banksia Ornata, Desert Banksia of western Vic & SA. But the rock doesn't ring a bell.
Could be a desert Park but the plants look marine.
Port Campbell Port Fairy, sandstone and basalt?

Genus correct, but wrong species. No basalt, but geology interesting for Victoria.
What interested me most about this pic was the erosion on the "bag".

We only have 2 species in SA. The serated leaves are interesting - not marginata ? But now i've found a Croajingolonensis as well. Web's not that helpful.
Not at Shipwreck Creek ?

You did well to find Croajingolonensis (sic).

"B. croajingolensis is known to occur only along a single drainage line, which drains a coastal heathland above the south bank of Shipwreck Creek in East Gippsland, Victoria. About 480 individual plants are known."

I would guess not B. croajingolensis, which looks more like integrifolia or marginata than (say) serrata.

Not Shipwreck Creek, but you are looking in the more correct half of Victoria.

At Squeaking Beach, on the Prom ?

Not Squeaky Beach.
The prom is all granite. You were correct in identifying sandstone earlier.
The unusual erosion on the sandstone boulder is meant to be a clue. This the only place that I have seen erosion like this.
Fortunately this a full days walk from the car park and is likely to remain undisturbed. (despite the area being known by surfers as having good surf)

"Is this feature the Iron Prince?"

Iron Prince Reef near Cape Howe.
Here banskia serrata is common and the winds blow strongly from 2 directions eroding rocks from each side as the dunes move easterly over the centuries and millennia.

Your pic now, potato.

Thanks robl, I'll post something soon. What is the unusual erosion you noted on the boulder?

The boulders were placed on the rock shelf behind the dunes when the sea level here was relatively higher in the mid-holocene and were originally more rounded. In the late holocene these rocks were stranded from the sea and acted upon by wind and sand. The erosion resulted in facets being formed at roughly right angles. More usually wind erosion acts from many directions without forming facets. At this time in this area we have prevailing westerlies interspersed with east coast lows. (causing the facets) This would likely to have been the case through the Meghalayan age.

Holocene geomorphology is a hobby for me. I am just a layperson, so please excuse if I am wrong.

Thats a reasonably fair interpretation of the rocks. I did an undergrad in soft rock geology many many many moons ago, some would say well before the meghalayan age. That said, I wouldn't call myself an expert but I do look for high-stand features in Tas when I am there as they are plentiful.

That's it, WFBW. The plaque reads:

"The conditions of a solitary bird are five:
The first, that it flies to the highest point;
the second, that it does not suffer for company,
not even of its own kind;
the third, that it aims its beak to the skies;
the fourth, that it does not have a definite color
the fifth, that it sings very softly.

In memory of Leon Ahearn
1955 - 1985

The eagle flies alone"

There is a lot of sandstone out there. Looks like somewhere along the Colo but do you have any clues?

Sort of reminds me of somewhere on the lower Grose that I can't place. Maybe Browns Ridge or somewhere in that area?

Reminds me of a view you can get on the way to Karloo pools in the Royal....but I wouldn’t be putting my last dollar on it?

Nope. West (more WSW) of Karloo (about 60km away). About 80km south of the Colo. Not Morton NP. I quite liked the previous photo btw.

With that clue I'm now thinking more likely Nattai. Maybe going down Starlights Trail or overlooking Rocky Waterholes Creek?

Close enough.... the valley in view is actually the unnamed creek that starlights parallels down to the river. Was being a bit of a sm@rt@r$e as this was taken from the Ahearns lookout track just as you climb up onto Ahearn head itself, probably only about 300m east of the first (northernmost) lookout on the head and maybe 600 or so metres from where the previous photo was taken.
