New track being cut at Faulconbridge

Was out exploring the other weekend and came across what looked to be a reasonably new track at Faulconbridge. Put it into the back of my mind and went back a week ago to have an explore of this track to see just how far it went.

Someone is going to a bit of trouble with this track, cutting trees down, cutting steps in, shaving rock faces etc.

Hmm, trimming or doing work on an overgrown walking track is one thing, but the what's been done here is definitely something else! Was there a track here previously, or do you think this is a completely new creation? I'm quite disappointed to see what's been done to the rock in your photos.

I think this is a pretty new track, and yes, was a bit disappointed to see that level of rock work being done. What I did not mention in the story is around where the track stops down below, is about where the National Park boundry is so they probably will not continue it. Though, they could skirt around the boundary and still take it up the the track at the end of St Georges.

Who does these tracks? That looked to be a decently sized job and certainly not one afternoon.

I have to assume the locals perhaps? On the other side of this ridge, is another new track that was put in some time ago, that skirts around the tip of the valley to the east and comes up to a set of tracks on the next ridge over. Again, raked earth, edge of the track lined with rocks, no trees cut down or rock works on that one though.

From my read of the topo, at least some of that area is outside of the national park, and may even be private land?
