Wollongambe River water quality

Postby minijimaus » Sun 14 Feb, 2016 1:40 pm

I am considering an overnight trip to the Wollongambe Crater and would appreciate information on water quality in the Wollongambe River following the 2015 coal spill.
I'm aware there may be water in the side creeks but at the end of summer I'm not sure whether they'll be running.

Thank you

The water in the Wollangambe has had elevated levels of heavy metals from the mining, so it was probably not a great thing to drink, coal spill or no coal spill.

While the creek at the Crater may run dry, the one 500m north of the Crater will almost certainly be flowing, and it is easy walking along the river to get to it.
