Postby Ant71 » Mon 28 Mar, 2016 6:36 pm

Hi everyone just wondered if any one had any ideas for a overnighter near Newcastle to try out gear and fitness with a pack dont want anything to challenging as it will be our first overnighter. An out and back would be great

Hi there, wildwalks is a great website for walks in the area, lots of resources, and here's a link to all the hunter walks: http://www.wildwalks.com/bushwalking-an ... er-region/

If you live close to Newcastle maybe try the Teralba to Newcastle via Glenrock Scout camp walk (http://www.wildwalks.com/bushwalking-an ... -camp.html) as you'll be heading back to Newcastle so if anything goes wrong with kit you aren't far from home

Have fun!

I did the Basin to Watagan as an out and back the other week (I picked the wettest time to go so it was leech city), it was a hard track at times but manageable. There's a few other day hikes on the wildwalks website that you could do as an out and back.
