Townsend Spur (north) KNP - any recent adventures?

Has anyone been up Townsend Spur recently? Was interested in doing this crazy climb staring from Olsens Lookout dropping straight down into the Geehi River then up Townsend Spur (North) camping up top then coming back down Lady Northcote Canyon via Opera House Hut - checking out Siren Song tunnel on the way. (NB. I did Hannel's Spur about 6 weeks ago) Is the road to Geehi Dam open these days - I heard rumours it was permanently closed?
