Refuge Bay from the Wallaroo Track Ku-Ring-Gai Chase NP

Sat 24 Jun, 2017 11:25 am

Has anyone tried to walk to the Refuge Bay beach following the ridges going north from the Wallaroo Track. I've tried the Topham Track approach which is not great as it is tide affected and is a oyster laden rock hop at the end

There are two ridges. The western one goes to the point - I haven't walked that one. I've walked the eastern one a couple of times - nice ridge with good views over Refuge Bay at the end. I haven't gone to the beach, instead heading east to the upper limits of the bay and then up to Topham trig. The scramble down to the upper parts of the bay involves a bit of route-finding through a couple of rock lines but isn't too bad. At low tide it is easy to follow the shoreline of the bay.

I know this is an old thread, but if you're still interested, there is a good bushwalking track from the Walleroo Track to Refuge Bay. It starts about 300m from the start of the Walleroo Track, just before the steep descent.

Thanks for the link. Headed there the other day and thought it was a lemon.

So I will be heading back there as soon as time allows.
