NSW members - Strollers Walk.

Postby kanangra » Sat 30 Jan, 2010 10:59 am

I see that our Tasmanian cousins are planning there next strollers walk. Why should they have all the fun? Surely we could organise something for those of us here in NSW? Perhaps we could call it the Pram walk as Stroller seems to be taken. Or the Amblers? Just a thought?

Don't forget the 'Bushwalk Meetup Tool' if you guys would like to try it. It can help a group choose between a selection of dates and/or locations for a walk. Ie, reduces 'herding cats' syndrome.

There's always a link to it in the pink section at the top of the 'Find Walking Companions' forum.

Ditto!

Any of those places are fine with me.

OK Blue Mts. it is. When to go? Saturdays suit me best but that is just me. March when things start to cool down a bit?

Saturday is good with me as long as there is enough notice. March is also good. For me, it needs to be after the weekend of 6/7 March - doing the 3 Peaks Challenge in Vic that weekend.

Are you just thinking a day walk or overnighter?

Hi Melinda,

It's a 230km bike ride which circumnavigates Vic’s alpine region traversing Tawonga Gap, Mt Hotham, then back to Falls Creek via Omeo - see http://www.bv.com.au/great-rides/42359/ . I've just got back into cycling after a lot of time off after some knee surgery, so we're only doing one of the 115km options this year (the first, harder one - Falls to Dinner Plain, takes in climbs at Tawonga Gap and Mt Hotham).

Our ride option starts at 7.45am, need to be finished by 1.15pm
230km riders start at 7:00am, need to be finished by 7.45pm

Cheers,

JB

Hi Melinda,

I'm looking forward to it. The downhill parts will be especially fun!! :D (as long as there is a good spread of riders and people don't do silly things - there is supposed to be a 50km/hr speed limit on the descents). The ascents will require a little more work (especially the Meg - 11.8% grade  ). Am doing all the preparation possible and hoping for good weather. I love being in the alpine country.

Have heard a little about the Blue Mtns 3 Peaks Challenge - sounds interesting!

Cheers,

JB
