Colo Meroo access and water for cyclists

Postby j_c_g » Thu 19 Oct, 2023 2:35 pm

Hi All, I'm planning a multi day ride in a few weeks and I want to spend a night around the upper colo. I had been looking at Wheeney Creek or Upper Colo reserve but the lack of cars at Colo Meroo would be much nicer. I have two questions re access and water supplies. Access from the end of Upper Colo Rd sounds pretty straightforward with just a gate to get over or under, is that correct? Will I be ok filtering or boiling the river water for drinking? Thanks.

Re water, filtering or boiling should be fine.

I've drunk the water straight from not far upstream on plenty of occasions.
