Walked the Bluff Circuit (Eight Mile Flat, The Bluff, Fourteen Mile Spur) in December 2018. The SV Maps 'Buller-Howitt Alpine Area' (2nd edition) is accurate for most tracks, except the first turn off on Bluff Track. From Bluff Hut, turn left down Bluff Track then right onto a rough track with a footpad after 650 m. The track does a switchback left and joins Bluff Track below the gate (as shown on the map). Turn right down the hill. About 20 m on the right is another foot track, also marked on the map, presumably leading to Sixteen Mile Jeep Track.

Continue down Bluff Track to the junction with Bluff Link Road. Keep walking straight into the bush over Bluff Link Track to locate the start of the Fourteen Mile Spur Track. The track turns sharp left and down near the start, then back right to skirt around a large rock outcrop. Otherwise, it heads for high points bearing 300 degrees.

The track is defined, though vague in places and overgrown. It is slower walking than Sixteen Mile Jeep Track (another party left Bluff Hut after me and were eating lunch when I arrived at Ritchies Hut) and requires some searching around in some spots to locate the footpad.
