Great Ocean Walk - Moonlight and Wreck beach walk

Postby alanoutgear » Sun 15 Jan, 2017 8:37 pm

Hi all. I've booked to do the GOW in Feb, and just trying to work out if you can walk all the way along the beach and rock platforms from the Moonlight Beach steps to Wreck Beach then on up to the inland track. The map shows a beach walk alternative route at low tide, but Decision Point 11B on the 2015 map says unequivocally "DO NOT attempt to walk along the beaches.

Parks Vic have been no help so I'm hoping someone who has done the GOW can help.

Hi Alan,

You had me confused until I realised that Moonlight Beach is separate to Moonlight Head

Yes, you can walk along Wreck Beach. BUT you do need to plan it for low tide. It's that simple.

And it's a nice walk.
