Last minute walking ideas for Easter?

Postby Zolotniik » Fri 14 Apr, 2017 3:05 pm

Hi to all who are still on here reading and not out walking!

I've decided I really need to get out over the next few days.

I would like some suggestions for medium/hard 2 or 3 day hikes that are not super far away from Melbourne. I would love to head up to the Alpine Area as I still have so much to explore, but given I'm on my own I don't fancy the massive drive in and out.

I was possibly thinking somewhere in The Grampians, but I really don't know much apart from light day walks there. Would love some suggestions!

Cheers,

Rowan

This is a bit late but in the Grampians you could do the Major Mitchell Plateau near Halls Gap or the Fortress in the west. The Baw Baws are only a couple of hours from eastern Melbourne, drive to either Mt Erica or Mt St Gwinear car park. Then start walking. From Erica along the AAWT to either Mushroom Rocks or the old Talbot Hut Site. From St Gwinear you only have to walk about an hour to the top and there are plenty of camping possibilities.
