VEAC plans for central west forests

Postby peregrinator » Wed 16 Aug, 2017 5:12 pm

The forests concerned are Mount Cole-Beeripmo, Wombat, Pyrenees, Wellsford, Cobaw and several smaller ones.

Sadly, I've just been alerted to these plans, and submissions close next Monday. Still, if you are concerned there is just enough time to respond. Or else say nothing and see the rape of Rubicon repeated elsewhere.

The investigation is just starting. The first stage was seeking comments on the terms of reference - what things should the investigation look at, is it the right area etc. A draft report will now be prepared. This should be released sometime next year with draft recommendations on things like reservation of areas, permitted activities and stuff like that. There will then be a period of public comment on the draft report's recommendations before a final report with final recommendations is put to government some time in 2019.
