Would the river crossings along wellington river be ok now, or is it still a bit high?

edit: I am hoping to take the Mt Margaret Track and camp on top of Mt Hump for Day 1, Day 2: Hike to Millers Hut or Nymibah Camp, Day 3: Walk out along Wellington river, or Via the Chromomite mine if river crossings look like they will be a problem.

I would say that this Spring the Wellington river will be flowing very strongly and will be very deep. I would not chance it.

Heading up tomorrow via McFarlanes. Should be a nice day. Sunday not so much.

Maybe I can do a Nyimbah Camp -> Chromomite Mine -> Mt Hump loop instead. Another walk I was hoping to do was the Snowy Bluff further north, if the two crossing of the Moroka river are possible.

There are leeches in the Horseyard flat area of the Moroka river :-0 . If you drive up to Horseyard flat you 'd be wise to have a chainsaw and a 4 WD. If it rains or there is a tree over the road you will be in bother with just a 2 WD and no chain saw.

Bummer, I thought the road to Horseyard flat was pretty reliable. I was hoping to do Doolans Plain to Snowy Bluff to Shanty Hollow to Horseyard Flat as a 3-day with a car shuffle.

I grew up in the mid north coast and spent my child-hood exploring leech infested gullies. So I am not too bothered by leeches anymore

Leeches won't kill you but they are creepy. The Moroka road is OK for 2 WD in summer but the Horseyard flat access road is best for 4 WD esp. in the wet.

Does anyone have any updates about the status of the wellington River walking track?

And then of Lake Tali Karng in general?

I can't speak for the Welington river track but walked into Tali Karng from the Gillios Track on Saturday .
Lake level is low , water temperature apparently acceptable to 2 of my companions. Walked out same way, same day. Camped at Nymbia . Thou roughly recommend going up Spion Kopje for the views if going back to McFarlanes saddle .

Water fall is working a treat, but going underground before reaching the lake! Drinking it was fine.

What else do you need to know about the Lake in general?

Is it still difficult to walk around the lake and find Rigalls track?

Rigall's spur track is sign posted at all major track junctions. PV had gone through there in Feb. 2016 and cleared the track so it should still be passable but I would expect some fallen timber along the way.I last walked it in Feb. 2016 .You won't struggle finding Riggall's spur track from Nyimba campsite.
Walking around the whole of the lake has always been a bit of a rocky scramble but the waterfall is well worth the circumnavigation. It makes for a fine day trip lunch spot from Nyimba. Spion Kopje is an easy side trip for views from Nyimba . The track comes off the Riggall's hut ruins site. There is an orange arrow marking the ascent point. You can camp there too and in the season of spring there is a stream that runs between Nyimba and Riggall's hut ruins site.

I wouldn't say difficult, just slow and awkward. Lots of fallen logs to negotiate and some rocky bits.

Also I didn't walk up Riggells but had no trouble finding its end and start points. Gotta be easier than walking up that beast Gillios Track.

I was there last Monday to Wednesday. Walked in to Nyimba camp via Mt Wellington. Tuesday, Gillios track down to the lake. These tracks all fine. Walk around the lake almost completely clear. Short walk to the falls is a must. The lake was fantastic to look at and magnificent to swim in. Walked up on Echo Point and Riggals tracks. Again, tracks in good condition. Wednesday walked out via Spion Kopje: this track we lost a couple of times and had a short bit of bush bashing but it is just following the ridge, so not a problem (apart from hurt pride at losing the track). This is a fantastic bit of country: I'm pleased I finally made it. We only saw two other walkers in that 3 days.

This isn't a track, just a sparsely marked pad/route. Great little detour, but.

There were a few orange arrows on tree going up Spion Kopje( Moroka area) from Riggall's hut ruins campsite when I was there last.

There were three, last time I was there (admittedly, some four years ago), all on that side of the summit. That's what I meant by 'sparsely marked'.

I reckon we found about 6 markers, but I won't quibble with NNW's assertion of "sparsely marked."

Top little walk up there with better views than I expected. As the others have said, more a route or pad than a track but easy enough to see where others have been and just follow the ridge in general. WE did lose the "track" a tad as we left and couldn't be bothered looking for it as we were closer at that stage to the main track so we walked over and rejoined it just after the "Archway"
